I need help playing guild wars.

Can i even enjoy guild wars with dial up? I go to the first city and it has like 9060 files that would take days on my computer. Is there something that I am doing wrong and if not is there something that i can download to help it move faster.

becuase no one comes to the general gaming page they are all at the general disscusion page and i really need some help.

Well it’s bearable on dial-up, as bearable Runescape in a polluted city. The game doesn’t require too much bandwith once you get to the actual cities, so in a few mins (1-3) depending on your video card it should run smoothly. the only thing is when you tou get to the post world and they show the movies, your streaming becomes crap… If you are playing the original GW, I’m not sure about the others.

No but the server updates like almost 3 days a week but once you get the huge chunks out of the way, it’s only like an additional 15 files, I also answered your second thread, but one would have sufficed you know.

How long will it take on dial up? About a day or so? I hope.

No the server hatches up their files into chunks, the biggest i’ve seen a file was, 2.5 Mb, that’s like 15 mins on a 56k connection, all together I’d gues that would take you near 2-3 hrs after you get all that out of the way, the standard 15 files should take 5 mins + loading screen time.

Are you playing Guild wars Prophecies or th expansions?

Ok now I know I can help, dial-up is gonna suck with your last mission those 4 other people you need are gonna leave you, because they have broadband, also when you get to the cutscene your teamates wont let you watch it because they want to leave.

also make sure you sample every profession just for the experience, and flexibility.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention don’t use dyes in the beggining sav them in the post scar you’ll need the money especially if you plan on soloing because 56k sucks for teamz, but henchman are the way to go.
