But the ending puzzles me. In the ending, Balthier and Fran made it out alive on the Sky Fortress Bahamut. Ashe’s coronation will soon come, and Penelo and Vaan finally became sky pirates like they always wanted to. Well… that’s not really the part that puzzles me. This is the part that puzzles me:
In the ending, Basch becomes the protector of Larsa, and they are in Archades. Penelo wrote a letter to Larsa:
JUDGE: YOU CALLED, MY LORD?
[He removes his helmet]
[Larsa hands the judge the letter, revealed to be none other than Basch.
Penelo continues the narration as Basch reads it]
PENELO: HOW IS BASCH? I KNOW HE WENT WITH YOU TO ARCHADES "TO FURTHER THE
CAUSE OF PEACE IN IVALICE"… BUT STILL, I HOPE HE COMES BACK TO RABANASTRE,
AND ASHE, SOON. SHE HAS TO KEEP UP APPEARANCES NOW, SO SHE WOULD NEVER SAY
IT…
[Ashe is holding a ring in her palm]
– BUT I THINK SHE MISSES HIM.
[Basch finishes reading the letter, and looks at the helmet as he reminisces
of the final moments with his brother]
So… right now, I’m thinking that there’s a possible romantic relationship between Basch and Ashe. Or is Penelo talking about the deceased Rasler?
