how could the people of North Corel blame barret for what happened four years ago when all of the townspeople (except dyne) accepted the building of the reactor?
weren’t they all being a bunch of hypocrites since they were all at fault?

Well, the villagers had no clue as to what Shinra’s true intentions were when they allowed the building of the reactor. So, I don’t see them as hypocrites.

If the folk did know about what really went on inside the reactors, and then continued to blame Barret for the destruction of the city, then yeah they would be hypocrites.

Barret was gone when Shinra destroyed Corel, perhaps they think that he was in on it and left to stay out of harm’s way? Or perhaps they just needed a scapegoat and chose Barret?

Oh, and god isn’t dead. Then again, he isn’t alive, either. Not what we would call alive anyway. What do I mean? Think about it.
