This been plaguing my mind for a bit now.
I’m in the process of tidying up the tags of my song list and noticed some Japanese artists written in two separate ways.
For example Yuuko Gotou>Yuko Goto and Ryouko>Ryoko.
Now I would like to group these so that I have only one type of each and wondering which is the better way to do so.
It seems to differ from game to anime/J-Pop.

I come across that issue all the time when I tag my music. What I do is go to their official website, or look at the cover pics of all of their albums/singles, and see if at any point an official release of theirs wrote out their name in romanji. I figure however they have their name officiallly written out is the way it should be. Hopefully, their own music label(s) will be consistent about it.

use media player to do your tags. best way to get it tagged properly,

Good way of going about it. I could use CDJapan as they seem to be a good resource for this.
