How do you beat the game w/ Level 1 party?

I don’t get it, how do you prevent level up?

Petrification for forced battles that give exp.

With lots and lots of planning, restarts, and… y’know… stuff like that. 😛

For starters, not all characters can stay at level 1. That IS impossible. You just have to keep four members at level 1, which is quite possible, just masochistic. Use stop or petrify to force-end battles, flee from random battles to prevent level up, or zombie/virus your members later on down the line to prevent level up.

I thought you could go through the game without levelling up just by fleeing from random encounters. Boss battles only give you AP in FFIX, so you could theoretically stay Lv. 1 for the whole game.

Having Zidane Steal a lot to increase the effectiveness of Thievery is a good way of getting a powerful attack for the later bosses. You can probably find a specific Lv. 1 Walkthrough on Game FAQs actually.

I haven’t beaten Ozma on only level.1.

Hm, I didn’t know if you got a reward for it…like collecting the coins, or getting to Memoria in 12 hours.
