for some reason even among the super nerds i hang out with breath of fire V is very unpopular witch pisses me off, but that aside

the soundtrack is amazing
unlike any ive heard

"the middle layer area" song is the best

i was wondering if any one felt the same way i do

and could recommend someone with a similar style maybe

thanks

I never played the game, but I think the soundtrack is pretty good. Splashes of industrial in there amongst the more traditional Sakimoto tracks. If you dig "Middle Layer Area," you might also like the soundtracks for:

Front Mission: Gun Hazard
Beyond Good and Evil
Chrono Trigger (if you haven’t heard it)
Deus Ex (heavier than Breath of Fire V, but in the same vein)
Mass Effect
Silent Hill 3 (and the other Silent Hills, too)

Those soundtracks are all along the same lines. If you move a little farther away, stylistically Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Secret of Evermore might appeal to you, too.

I just put this soundtrack on my ipod last night. "The middle layer area" is my favorite also, save maybe for "Kind Friends".

His style is easily recognizable, games such as Vagrant Story, FF XII and Dragon Quarter can prove this, and last but not least, Odin Sphere, although he didn’t make the whole soundtrack. And yeah, Dragon Quarter has great music, only people who dislike Sakimoto’s style could disagree.

I agree for the most part but when I first heard the theme to Odin Sphere after hearing Sakimoto composed it I found myself saying "right well this OBVIOUSLY isn’t him" but indeed it was. Im just saying he’s not completely bound to his style and can suprise.
