I have played FF7 all the way through multiple times, but just recently noticed something new. Immediately after defeating Ultima Weapon, I went to the menu while on the Highwind to heal myself accordingly. Afterwards, I proceeded to talk to the pilot to continue the story( I beat him right before you are supposed to head back to Midgar, at the end of disk 2). When I spoke to him, his name was displayed as "Learner Pilot(L14 Limit Break)" I don’t know if this always happens, or if it is just that I missed the previous time. If anyone else has noticed it, do you have any idea what it does, or why it happened.

It always happens — it’s meaningless, it doesn’t actually give you anything or do anything, it’s just in there for fun.

Well, as disappointing as that is, it’s good to know. Thanks.

I always liked that detail. Just a stupid little thing I found amusing, the way the pilot levels up as he goes along.

Yeah, I actually liked that one too, and the Limit Break, even if it was meaningless…

The Highwind losing the propellers and switching to jet power, or whatever it was, could be considered the Limit Break, I suppose.

But he becomes a "Full Pilot" once that happens.

You know, he was filling up the LM gauge. Had to do a few flights before it actually activated.

Very true. I wonder who installed the rockets anyway. I mean, was it Shinra, and if so, why’d they hide it away? Maybe they were waiting to test it, but then the Highwind got taken from them…

I think Cid did, when the Highwind was his. I mean, he seemed to know everything about the ship in such a short time.

He probably installed them for special occasions, like the switch to make the Highwind smaller and lighter he used in the ending sequence.

He commented it though that it looked to him like the ship had been remodeled without him realizing it, and that the button had been "bothering him for a while," but he didn’t seem to realize what it was for.

Oh that was the lever he complained about? I didn’t remember that. You’re probably right, Shinra must’ve done it.
