I’ve played a type of computer RPG where you can only make one save file during the game, and if your character dies the save file is automatically deleted. Do you think you could play an FF game like that? You can only use one block of memory; every time you save your game you must rewrite the old save. You are only allowed to load a saved game if the reason you left your previous game is because you had to turn the computer/PS off. (because I don’t expect anyone to play an entire FF game in one sitting.) If your party is killed, the game is over.

Anyone up for the challenge? I’ll try it with FFX once I finish playing it normally. If you’re going to do it, post which game and then post how far you get.

Uh, well…..Kinda already beat you on it. I never make more than one save of a game. So, I beat FFIV, FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, and FFT with just one saved game file each.

I am just such a daredevil…… 😉

Diablo II has an option where you can make a ‘Hardcore’ character that gets deleted if you die. Maybe that’s what you heard about…

It is possible to finish the game without dying, but the main problem is u’ll have to finish the game several times cuz u’ve missed alot.

No, actually I was refering to text-based DOS games called "rogue-like RPGs." (because the first one was called Rogue and then a bunch of clones were made.) My favorite is "Ancient Domains of Mystery."

Yes, but did your party ever get KO’ed?

A bit like playing FFI on the NES with all four characters as White Mages, I’d imagine (notes to self; start new game of FFI on NES with party of White Mages, then throw control pad at TV after being KO’d in said game after only two minutes on world map).

Today’s Classic FF Quote:

"Heh, the red carpet has teeth!" Auron, seeing Bevelle’s little ‘welcoming present’ from the airship, FFX.

Nope, never got KO’ed in any game.

Wait, there was one or two times in FFIV that I died, so I kinda got pissed and stopped playing. I started a new game later because I forgot about my old game, but then I overwrit it because the other game was better.

Well in DiabloII u can have hardocore characters who will become unasable after dying though the save game remains. It is really a challenge.
