Please help me. I have a pc version for the FF8. And I am bothered with the controls specifically when I am outside the towns and gardens. I just want to know if there is a way to know which way I am heading, like, I want to know the north part of the world. Is there any controls that open up such map with legends or compass?
PS: no controls are mentioned in the manual.

Buy a controller. Pluck it in (USB is the magic word!) and wonder. If it doesn’t help, poor one.

I have found out already. In keyboard controls its the "F" button when you’re outside towns/gardens to show a minimap which determines your position and the line of sight youre having.

Playing a console-game with a keyboard is annoying…

I did not find it annoying at all, except for the DMC3, but there is the PS2 for DMC3, nothing to worry… And glad you found out.

I have the PC version of VII and VIII and overall, I don’t generally find the controls too problematic. Glad you solved your problem.
