Tsubomi Hanasaki is a girl in the second year of middle school who adores flowers and plants. While she and her family return to their hometown she experiences a weird dream in which a blooming tree loses it’s flowers and sees a fairy fleeing the scene. The evil Desert Messengers goal is to destroy the Heart Tree and transform the Earth into a desert; wilting the Heart Flowers inside everyone. The fairy that Tsubomi dreamt about confronts her a few days later and pleads for her to become the next legendary warrior Pretty Cure and to restore the wilting Heart Tree. Tsubomi is forced to accept when a Desertrian strikes and steal the Heart Flower of Erika Kurumi, Tsubomi’s new classmate. To retrieve Erika’s heartflower she transforms into Cure Blossom and fights. The battle is won and Erika is revealed to be the next Pretty Cure, Cure Marine. Together they battle the Desertrians made out of the towns-people’s stolen Heart Flowers and restore the Heart Tree with Heart Seeds they gain from each battle.
