Game Freezes at Aeris’s house

I’m playing FF7 on the PS2(tried it on the PSX too, same bug) and when I go to talk to Aeris’s mother after Sector 7 collapses, as soon as I walk into her house, the game freezes. Sometimes Tifa will come out of the party and then it freezes and the music will keep playing but I still can’t do anything. The only other problem I had with the game was it was saying "file is ruined" and I had to use the gameshark checksum bypass to get around it.

Is there maybe a gameshark code or some way to get around this part of the game or get it to work? It seems I can’t go to Shinra HQ until I talk to Elmyra.

Uh, sounds like your game/save file is fucked up.

Did you try deleting the file and trying again? Or how about getting another copy of the game?

your ganna have to try again or buy a new one, or it might be the memory card, d00d.

I figured it out! Apparently Barrett has to be in your party and through some bug in the game he never rejoined mine, so of course when I go to a scence he’s supposed to be in, it froze. Fixed it with the debug code.

I have. This happened when I went back to the City of the Ainchentes (awful spelling 101) right when I was about to watch the water thingy near the end of disc 2 and at the battle woosh with Jenova Rebirth on disc 3. Just a black screen and music playing. >_>;

Your post was fucking pointless if you admit it’s the CD. The OP claimed it was a bug.

My IX too, right before entering lifa tree (aka iifa tree) for the first time. Had to take it back n get a new one.

I had the same problem with the FFVIII FMV where Balamb Garden crashes into the ocean — sometimes, though, if you just sit patiently and try to wait it out, you can get around it. Or if you can clean the disc.

And

FFVI (3) SNES Cart, On the floating continent, if u used Relm’s Draw on certain enemies while they are vanished. Game would pixalate and sometimes freeze. Cool thing was, if you were able to find a save point, you could save and restart the game with 99+ of all the best items/equipment/relics.

In Secret of Mana I did the 9th Sword Orb trick wrong. Instead of restarting the game I just went to Luka and my game froze. WTFBUG

yup i have the same problem with FFVIII when trying to load the second disc it’s probably the disc.

Same with my copy of FFVIII…I cannot play the game past the Moon Monsters FMV when aboard the spaceship on Disc 3.
