Gabriel Knight 3 was a great game with some great piano based music, but I haven’t been overly happy with the "soundtracks" from this game I’ve stumbled over so far. Fortunately it’s a fairly easy game to extract files from yourself, using the GK3 Barn Browser (http://gk3tools.sourceforge.net/browser.php).

Using this I’ve extracted what I hope is all the music files from the game. Then I played around with CDex to see if I could turn these wav files into mp3 files. Normal conversion didn’t seem to work, but when I tried "strip the WAV-RIFF header(s) from MP2 or MP3 file(s)" it worked like a charm. I’m guessing this means the files were really mp3 files all along… ? The files remained exactly the same size too, and the sound quality seemed to be the same. Here is the result:

Gabriel Knight 3: Blood Of The Sacred, Blood Of The Damned "OST" (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/0IY4AHG0/Gabriel_Knight_3_(Extraction).rar_links)

The extracted tracks all have their original names; I haven’t renamed them or ordered them in any fashion. I fear that I might have mixed in a couple of sound effects or ambient files into the mix, though…

If I missed any tracks, please let me know. If you have the game, it’s easy enough to use the browser I linked to above, so you can explore the game’s files for yourself. Try to see if you can find the audio file of, ahem, one of the game’s characters visiting the toilet.

There are also a handful of tracks here I can’t remember having ever been used in the game, and I’m guessing they’ve been included either as Easter Eggs, or because they might have been used in some earlier version of the game and they forgot/didn’t bother to remove them. If anyone knows anything about this, I’d be eager to hear. There’s BARDISCO, CIRCUS1, CIRCUS2, PARADE, TE6DEMON, and maybe some others.

Anyway, enjoy!

This takes me way back. Even though the plot went way over my head as a kid, I definitely still have fond memories of playing through this game. Many thanks for sharing this with us.

Any chance of a re-up on this one? I’ve been hunting it for honestly years. At least a half decent one (i’ve grabbed several crappy rips over the years and tossed ’em all)

Have you checked out Quest Studios? They should have it. (I just tried checking for you, but the site is unavailable because its bandwidth has been exceeded.)

Sadly, no. They never did a complete GKIII release. They have 1 and bits and pieces from 2 but no one. I’ve been asking there for years… 🙁

Found this site; it’s Russian, but fairly easy to navigate. I have no idea if it’s safe, or what the quality is.

I’ve gone ahead and created another set of mirrors, this time with a nicely zipped file so that when you expand the RAR it doesn’t dump hundreds of files into whatever location you happen to have the file 😉

Download mirrors for GK3_Raw_Extracted_Soundtrack.zip – Mirrorcreator – Upload files to multiple hosts (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/FVOW3UMW/GK3_Raw_Extracted_Soundtrack.zip_links)
