I was shocked to find it just sitting there. Never would have expected to see that at the public library!

Could be a bootleg – I notice the discs say ‘Square Enix’ on them – the FFVII OST was published by Digisoft (a semi-autonomous company that’s since gone out of business), long before the Square/Enix merger – it should say ‘Squaresoft’ on them. There are tons of bootlegs of it going around – if it says anything other than Digisoft it’s a bootleg.

Still interesting nonetheless, but not completely unsurprising – I found a Yoshitaka Amano artbook at the library too a few years ago (which had amongst other things his entire FF art portfolio), which I later went out and ordered a copy for myself.) 🙂

Just want to point out Square/Enix actually reprinted it: SQEX-10001~4 | FINAL FANTASY VII Original Sound Track – VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/album/3406)

While there are tons of bootlegs going around, I’d say the one in that picture is legit.

Oh, I wasn’t aware of that – yeah, that basically means it’s a legitimate version then. 🙂 Thanks for that info Leon.

Aw man!
I bought a bootleg.
http://www.discogs.com/Nobuo-Uematsu-Final-Fantasy-VIII-Original-Soundtrack/release/853236

from a Chinese store here.
It’s like VCD’s for music. :/

Wish I had known more about this before! they were 20-30$ each!
I just thought it was a different pressing from an official studio in Japan or something. Like an import.
Crooks.
