I bought Final Fantasy V for GBA within the month it came out (a long while back), and beat it within the first week (which I actually regret, since I didn’t realize there was so many bonus things that could only be gotten up to a certain point in the game).

However, when I first tried to enter the bonus dungeon, I was brutally destroyed, and set the game off until just recently. Over the course, of three days, I completely finished the bonus dungeon, making OmegaMk2 and Neo Shinryu look like wimps (I beat Omega on the first try, and Neo Shinryu on the second, once I realized what to do).

Surprisingly, I found it was much easier than I expected, and didn’t encounter many of the troubles that some others mentioned from their fights. Of course, my levels skyrocketed in those few days, going from low 50s to low 80s, and mastering every job.

Anyone else have a good time at that bonus dungeon?

I’ve yet to best FFV, but as no one else is paying you any mind, I’ll take the liberty and say good job! So far the only FF I’ve conquered the bonus dungeon for is IV, also for GBA. So far I’d have to say that game has one of the best bonus dungeons in a game I’ve ever played, but as I said, I still haven’t reached V’s additional challenge yet.

I don’t know why but I decided to master every job before doing the bonus dungeon, which kind of made the bonus dungeon less challenging/fun since all that’s left is either level grind or kill the bosses. (Though after about an hour or two of job grinding in the void, one slip up = party dead = NOOooooooooooo)

Amazed that you got to 8x, I never got past 5x.

V is also my favorite of FF’s. 🙂

I still haven’t finished FFV yet, everytime I go to play it, something happens and I end up putting it aside.

Gonna have to go back and finish it one day.

I actually never finished this one. Because I got stuck at a place and didn’t know what to do. It was shortly after I defeated Gilgamesh and traveled to a mountain of some sort and there I just didn’t know how to progress any further than that. I would love to finish it someday, to finally get closure.

Congrats

I did the same thing with IV, I have yet to pick it back up and finish everything else in the game, I know I tried the dungeons (especially on the moon) and had my butt handed to me.

I do the same thing with V and VI as well.

I beat FFV, but I was too scared to go in the bonus dungeon, and I figured I wouldn’t be missing out on that much. Just some extra dialogue and a job; and since there isn’t anything to do in the game after beating the bonus dungeon (Because I’m not going in there until I’m level 100, so therefore I can’t level up afterwards, and I already mastered all the other jobs and completed every side-quest), that pretty much makes getting a new job useless.

I also have to express my amazement at levels in the 80s– but then again, I’ve never played the GBA version of the game. AP farming? Yes, but levels, I’m not sure if I ever even got any higher than the 40s…

AP Farming got me my high levels. I spent most of the game AP farming. By the time I went to Karnak, I’d Mastered every job I had. By the time I went to Bal, I’d Mastered every job I’d gotten since then. By the time I beat the game, I had no jobs left to Master. (Well, Necromancer, but besides that)

And since I trained on Shield Dragons in Kuza instead of Objet de Arts in Bal, I ended up gaining enormous level gains.

What a waste of time, eh?
