Hi, all. Would some kind soul who has these two games on PC be willing to zip up just the MIDIs (specifically, the Roland/GS-optimized) and upload them? I could download the games themselves, but all I want is the midi files, and it seems a waste to download that much stuff just to get at a couple hundred kb of files. I just got a Roland SD-50 sound module, and I want to tinker with them. 🙂
Thanks in advance.

I spent a few hours working on this for you. The good news, here (http://www.mediafire.com/?9pqip0v6atmmpvr) are the FFVII MIDIs (courtesy arbingordon). The less good: FFVIII PC doesn’t have MIDI files, at least not directly. They are in .sgt which is a Microsoft Directsound format. I couldn’t get MIDI Extractor to pull anything from them and Qhimm (http://www.qhimm.com/) says it’s not possible, or at least no one has tried and succeeded.
However, if I could make a request of you, could you please use the MIDIs from here (http://www.ffshrine.org/ff8/ff8_midi.php) and post the results? I wish the original sound quality were better, and even if some of these MIDIs are a little off, I’m sure it would be worth the investment.

Thanks. I’ll see what I can make of these.
Haha. The Compression of Time MIDI is the one I made, yeeeears ago. 🙂
