Final Fantasy VII’s PC rerelease is happening | RPG Site (http://www.rpgsite.net/news/1781-final-fantasy-viis-pc-rerelease-is-happening)

Square Enix has just confirmed that Final Fantasy VII’s PC rerelease is real.

We reported that Square Enix had working versions of the PC ports for FF7 and FF8 on Steam back in June of 2011. Rumours resurfaced last month, a year on, when an official website for the game was accidentally leaked by a Square Enix blunder.

That website is now online.

IT IS HAPPENING. YES.

A port for Steam is not a Remake.

So no, Nothing is really happening.

Plus this:

Exactly. It’s best not to count your chocobos before they’ve hatched. I’m sorry to crush your fragile hopes and dreams Clank, but the Steam version is just a re-release of the old Eidos-published PC version, not a remake, with bugs (presumably) fixed. The only additions that have been stated as being included is a new item that supposedly can be used to boost stats and gil in an emergency, essentially making it ‘FFVII Easy Type’ – as if the game wasn’t terribly easy enough as it is.

But as Topo stated, this is just a re-release, not a remake.

Also, at one time there was a ban on FFVII-remake rumour discussion on this board as well, but I’m going to overlook that this time (as long as this doesn’t devolve into a flame war again).

EDIT: also looks like the Steam version was bluff – it’s now going to only be an exclusive download from SE’s own website (and presumably requires a Square Enix Account – the ‘character booster’ item that will be included will only work depending on how much money the player throws at SE. Pretty lame actually, and lets face it – who really needs such a thing?).

And it’s currently not available in Australia.

But will be soon.

I’m late, but you guys are replying as if I was enthusiastic about a remake. Nope. I am happy for this re-release.

Oh. I got excited for a few seconds there.

Wait, FF7 for PC? Yeah, that actually is really cool! Thanks for sharing!
