Is there a proper rip for this lying around somewhere? The "official" one from this site is just crappy emulated music that sounds nowhere as good as the real thing. If there isn’t, someone needs to do that! At least for the songs that aren’t in FFXII.

It’s not emulated, just that the menu theme and the save menu song have these weird clicks in them; everything else sounds fine to me o_O

It is emulated, and sounds nothing like the original. Songs with chorus, like the Phon Coast? No chorus. Songs with long slow string notes? Choppy. Transitions are hopeless, with sudden "breaks" in the flow, and all the instruments sound different and synthesized. To those of you playing your DS without proper speakers or headphones, it may sound alike, but it’s not. It’s like comparing MIDI to WAV.
And I’m really sorry that people seem to think it sounds alike, because that gives the game’s reputation a big dent IMO if they think the music is this bad.
EDIT: On a similar note, is there any place I can get the ACTUAL FFXII soundtrack? I mean, the OST is good and all, but it’s not the in-game version. Most of the songs are better on the OST, but there are a few I’d like the ingame version of… like the Nabreus Deadlands music and the Dalmasca Estersand music.
