I have recently obtained a copy of FFVIII for the PC and for the first couple of weeks I played it no problems. Then suddenly… no sound and by no sound I mean no sound effects. The music works fine but im getting no sound effects even though I installed the EAX Unifier several times checked my soundcard is working and that all directsound formats work through directX. Everything checks out except for one interesting thing: In the troubleshooting readme it explains I may need to use audio compression. The redme tells me to got to ‘Windows options’ in the add/remove programs list and find the multimedia tab of said windows options to enable audio compression. Problem is XP doesnt have windows options in the add remove programs tab so if anyone has had this issue and solved it can they please tell me how or it would also be useful to know how to sort out my audio compression.

I’ve never had any problems with mine. Did you download any patches for the game?

Well, sometimes you need more questions because otherwise you’re never gonna get to the root of the problem, yeah. I really don’t see how can help if we don’t know if he’s using any patches or don’t even know what soundcard he has.
