Just goes to show the popularity of FFVII as compared with some of the other FF games. I really hope they go through with this, as I can’t wait to see it.

Lol, personally I think this is great news….but bear in mind, its still ‘in consideration’ (Like the FF7 remake)
You guys should read what their posting at the RPG gamers forum…..the majority of posters really HATE the idea of a FF7 sequel

Some fans afraid that the team will screw up in making it a worthy sequal of FFVII and/or even ruin the sequal thus damaging FFVII’s great glory
A game with such standards is hard to beat let alone to make a worthy sequal for it.
I semi agree with their disliking, since the team could really screw things up, then again there’s a chance IF the sequal gets confirmed ofcourse (which btw. is far from… this is just some speculation on the opinions of one man.) that the game would beat FFVII.

If the game follows in the same vein as Final Fantasy VII (materia, summon spells, weapons, etc.) Then I’m for it. What would be really cool is if they add a little backwards capability into the game, so that you can start the game with a % of the level you were at the end of FFVII added onto your initial stats. (Like in Suikoden 2, with characters who were available in Suikoden.)
Square would have to be very careful if this goes through. They could alienate a portion of their fanbase if this goes wrong and doesn’t live up to the hype… Guess we’ll just have to wait and see, like with most things.
