What’s your favorite job in ff5. I’m still kind of iffy on which one is my favorite.

Which one is the best?

Mime all the way. Trust me, by far THE BEST job in the game.

I’m only at the beginning of the game but so far it’s the Monk.

Mime is only best if you’ve already mastered a decent amount of jobs. 😛

I agree with Keiko, Monk is really strong and useful. You get it quite early, and can kick quite some ass. If I remember correctly, you can even learn a skill that raises your HP, so… There’s something not to miss!

Well, to begin with Monk is great. However, once you get Ninja it is obsolete till you’re on a pretty high level. The reason is because of the 2-swords ability which lets you equip two weapons and attack twice per-round. The reason it is such a great skill isn’t the damage (which is nice) but because it is a chance for two hits in one round for those hard-to-hit enemies.

When you DO gain Mine I would suggest that you have at least 2 damage dealers and use "Aim" for their attack, this way you’ll pretty much never miss. Unless you’re just exploring, in which case use Mug so you will have a chance to steal items every time you attack. Also, keep in mind that a lot of the innate abilities you gain along the way (like Counter, basically an ability that isnt a job command) the Mine just innately has so you don’t have to equip them in one of the 3 open ability slots. The only ones that I have come across that arent automatic are the equipment abilities, like Equip Sword, or Equip Axe (and so on). So, if you plan on having someone equipped with the healing staff (whatever you attack it heals, unless it is undead, attack is based on magic power not battle power) I would suggest skipping monk with that person or they will just counter and heal the enemy.

If you want I can post up my final setup for my party to give you a better idea what abilities I find the most useful, because really that’s what you’re ultimately going for, the abilities for a great Mime combination rather than a good job class prior to that.

You can always use Toss with Mime, but until you’re to a point where it doesn’t matter if you throw away gold or not it’s just a waste of money, making 2-swords your best shot at doing an insane amount of damage. Sure, Toss is great for boss battles but you can’t use it for every battle you get into.

Mystic Knight = teh rock. I’d love it if they’d add it to FFXI.

Also, I’ve always had a certain fondness for Time Mages.

I always liked Monk and the White Mage, or the mix of both…. 🙂

But I always kept on changing the jobs. It was a lot of fun, the mixtures I had sometimes were fun, too. 😀

i guess all the jobs could be really good if you use the right combination of abilities and weapons.
