fables

I’ve decided to write some fables. No deep meanings in the morals here. I just thought it’d be interesting to make some. . .

here’s one. I’ll do more maybe.

THE KING LIONS

It came to be that one portion of the forest had a famine. The lions and foxes and all other carnivorous animals were upset by the low supply of food and demanded that the king lion find a new source of food for them."This is bothersome," thought the king lion and eventually he decided to proposition one of his brothers,that were much larger than he, who controlled an adjacent area that had food to spare for some new hunting ground.
His brother did not like the idea of giving up his land and so he told the king lion to be on his way. "But certainly," said the king lion, "there is enough food to satisfy both of our subjects." "But your subjects are greedy and would take too much food for themselves", said his brother. The king lion became angry that his subjects were being insulted and reminded his brother of the time he needed to use his land for food and how a favor was owed to him. "Ah," said his brother," I remember that , but I do not wish to let you use my land", and with that he pounced upon the king lion and mauled him. Upon his last breath, the king lion thought to himself, "ah

not directly. but it is where I got the idea of what sort of story the moral would be attached to.

Fables are always an interesting change of pace… directness definately has its values. The one thing I’m left wondering is if you mean this moral as something that will always be true about mankind, or if it’s something you’re saying is a problem that needs to be fixed. Gah, I might sound like I’m saying the exact same thing there, but I’m not quite sure how to put it. Ah well, it was interesting, and if you were to write more I’d definately read them.

Its a problem I think needs to be fixed(what with being a problem and all.)

Its also a problem I don’t think people want to fix. Because even if they know what the right thing to do is, they won’t do it simply because it goes against their interests.

THE FOX AND THE DOG

One day a fox came upon a dog wandering in the woods. "Hey cousin," said the fox. "What are you doing out away from your master?"
"I tire of having no control over my life",said the dog, to which the fox replied "No problem cousin, if you’re willing to leave your old life behind you, I will let you be my partner." The dog agreed and soon he and the fox had a comfortable living in the wild. With a partner, the fox was even more cunning in the planning of the capture of his prey, and the dog relished every moment he spent with him.
The fox and dog soon began going after riskier prey and eventually it was too much for them and they were both slaughtered by a pack of boars. "Certainly," said the fox, "you regret your decision in joining with me now." "Not at all," replied the dog," because

"risky freedom is greater than coddled safety"

edit: this is awfully similar to one I’ve read actually. -_-
