OK so I think Korngold could be the single composer I could take to my dessert island and this disc would be in the 8! Good selection here of something unusual for Korngold, a military march, then a cinematic film score type cello concerto (one movement) and lastly a concerto for the left hand! As a friend of me said recently "Korngold is all film music" well he isn’t and this proves it but even if he was he sort of defined Hollywood blockbuster music but the pedigree shows – he is now even more popular than when he was alive and for all the right reasons. You will have no regrets this is a highly enjoyable, satisfying disc superbly played and recorded!

Never heard of this but I’m excited to give it a listen. Korngold is one of those composers who never really gets talked about, yet he is one of my all time favorites. Thanks!

Thanks ! At the end of his career, he didn’t get the recognition he deserved for his "serious" music; he was very famous in Vienna as a child prodigy and then as a brilliant young composer; and Richard Strauss was his godfather (as he was Max Steiner’s too !)
