The second volume of my collection features music from the films Dešťov� v�la (http://cineuropa.org/f.aspx?t=film&l=en&did=116169), based on the novel Die Regentrude (The Rain Fairy) by the famous German poet Theodor Storm, with performance by the [/I]Filharmonic Orchestra Prage[/I], conducted by Adam Klemens, Zvon Luk�š (http://www.csfd.cz/film/155855-zvon-lukas/), in which Petr Hapka has a guest role as actor, O sirotkovi z Radhoště (http://www.csfd.cz/film/118866-o-sirotkovi-z-radhoste/) as well as O spanil� Jašince (http://www.csfd.cz/film/222105-o-spanile-jasince/), directed by Ludv�k R�ža, he and Hapka worked on many films together, and finally Křesadlo (http://www.csfd.cz/film/188015-kresadlo/), a film based on a novel by Hans Christian Andersen.

Personally, I really like Dešťov� v�la’s music, it has this dramatic touch, for which Hapka is known for. Thanks to the live performance by an orchestra, the melodies shine with great strenght. Zvon Luk�š is my second favorite, it also features a handful beautiful themes. The love theme with its flute and harp combination is very lush and "The Scarecrow Dance" is a very catchy merry-go-round tune. It seems the composer was inspired this time, maybe thanks to the new director. By the way, it’s also an interesting fact to compare some of Hapka’s songs – he tends to use the same melody in different films, which apparently have nothing to do with each other. For this collection, for example listen to "Opening (Dešťov� v�la)" and "Main Theme (Křesadlo)" and compare, it’s the same melody. Or take a listen to "Finale (Dešťov� v�la)" and the "Theme of Despair" from Snow White (Everlasting Melodies Vol. 1) 😉
