Hi, I’m on the Dreadnought Leviathan, and I’m up to the part where I’m about to fight 2 Judges, 3 Imperial Swordsmen and the Imperial Magus, do you know where I mean?

Well if you do have you guys got any tips for this battle? It’s so hard all of my characters are all dying straight away! I’ve got Fran and Balthier set with similar Gambits, Balthier’s is 1# Ally: HP <50% > Cure 2# Foe: Nearest visible > Attack. Frans is basically the same only she attacks first rather then heals first. And then obviously theres me.

I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, there all leveled up fine… I think:
Vaan is Level 9
Balthier is Level 10
Fran is Level 10
Basch is Level 10 too, but that Vossler guy who just joined my party as a guest is at level 14… should I be at his level?

Thanks in advance if you can help me haha 🙂

I’m a bit rusty, but yea you would be better if you were at that level it would make thing alot easier for you during your time on the Dreadnought. The easiest way to beat them is to listen to Balthier just focus on the 2 Judges and the rest will run. Change your gambits so you’ll attack the strongest enemy, your cure one is fine.

It’s actually rather hard to level up on the Leviathan, as the Imperials give very little experience… Personally, I’d have levelled up a bit on the Skeletons in Lhusu, but obviously that’s of little help to you. If you really can’t win the encounter, just fight the Imperials, you’ll level up eventually.

As far as battle strategies go, though, I’ve found the best way is to eliminate the Magus first – he’s going to deal the most damage and cause the most hassle. Then it’s up to you. If the Swordsmen are giving you trouble, I believe it’s possible to use a Warp Mote on them, if you have any, or you can hit them with physical attacks. They should go down pretty quickly, leaving you able to focus on the Judges.

I’d also advise setting Fran’s gambits to heal first – if you want one person to attack before healing, make it Balthier, as he’s statistically the worst magick user in the party.

Hope that’s of some use to you. 🙂

Do the exact opposite of what Vossler says. He says to attack the Judges first. Don’t. The damage over time from their lackeys combined with the damage dealt by the Judges themselves makes it a lot harder. Take out the weaker enemies first, especially the mage because he can cast from a distance. Once the mage falls kill the swordsmen; if you get too low on health you can run out of their range and use items or heal other members. Once the swordsmen are dead the Judges aren’t that hard, Vossler does a ton of damage.

But yeah. I got stuck for the longest time because I tried to kill the Judges first. It’s a lot easier to go the other way around.

If you really get stuck, you could always just have all of your characters do nothing but heal and allow Vossler to take out the enemies by himself.

You should be about level 14-15 on the leviathon……

Blind the judges! Once that’s done, you will have no trouble for the rest of the battle. Teach blind to the three main characters of your party and keep casting blind (while curing) on the judges until they’re blind. Then go after the magus’ (magi?), etc.

Personally, I don’t think that you should step foot inside the Leviathan without blind since you’ll probably need it for the Judge Ghis boss battle. Especially if you’re at a low level.

A quick tip: It is a good idea to at least have one of every spell per license purchase when it comes to Green, Time, and Arcane magick in that order…. Some staples that you should purchase as soon as possible are Blind, Silence, Haste, Protect, Shell, and Dark.
