There are many great RPGs, and EarthBound is one of them. Apparently, the ESRB has rated EarthBound for the Wii. This is very likely an indication that EarthBound will soon be released for the Virtual Console. This is great news. In addition, starmen.net have been holding a youtube seige to raise EarthBound awareness.

If you’ve played it, you probably enjoyed it. If you are a fan of RPGs, you’ll probably enjoy it.

I doubt it. Itoi himself said in an interview that he’s tired of making games and wants to be playing them for a change.

That’s awesome if it’s true, although I kind of wonder how many people would enjoy a game like that now days. Being based off Dragon Quest, the gameplay is a little on the archaic side (sans the encounter system, which is surprisingly modern). Your average FF nut probably wouldn’t be able to get into it.

You’re right about what Itoi said. This isn’t a new game, it is the original SNES EarthBound being released on the Wii’s Virtual Console. It has been confirmed by multiple sources and if you search EarthBound on the ESRB’s website you can see it. The average FF nut might not get into at first but, if given the chance, I think they’d end up enjoying it. Plus, on the Virtual Console, it will only cost about $8, which isn’t too much to try out a pretty sweet RPG that might’ve been missed the first time around.

I found EarthBound to be pretty darn terrible.

I trust chewey’s taste in everything so I won’t purchase

I have fond memories of playing Earthbound back in the day, so I would jump at the chance to play a US release of Zero or Mother 3. And also, I thought Nintendo dropped the idea since they recently removed Earthbound from their ESRB rating page/schtick.

If it comes to VC, I will play.

If only to eat babies…

I don’t remember any baby eating in this game. I don’t know how I could miss that.

It’s one of the options when you select favorite food, from what I hear~

Oh, right.

There are no set options for that. You can enter whatever you want. I entered Soylent Green myself (or a derivative that would actually fit).

Also, is nothing else, Earthbound is worth a playthrough for the utterly bizarre final boss battle.

Earthbound(Mother 2) was a great game.

Apparently Mother 3 had good reception in Japan. SO now I want play it.

BTW I used to put "shit" as my fav food when I got the option. Lol made for some great dialogue.
