I opened up an old book
To see if I could find peace
But the language was too clever
My understanding, it did cease

Cain and Abel were fighting
Over what I could not tell
In their faces I thought I saw
My mother’s heaven and Dantes hell

So I climbed to the peak of a mountain
To see if I would be able to see
Something greater than myself
But all I found was me

I was alone, but not by myself
I could not listen, but did hear
The drums beating loudly
And the band drawing near

The wind crashed and the waters rose
I cried out to the sky
And just about that moment
A familiar face floated by

It was Noah in his ark so large
Sailing past my wading feet
He said Id love to help you, man
But Im afraid we cant find a seat

He just sailed on by as the waters climbed
And God just watched with glee
He must have thought it a clever joke
The one he played on me

As I was drowning in the torrent
My eyes opened and my senses came to me
I closed the book and bid farewell
To the mountain and the sea

I sat in my chair and was utterly confused
But looking back, it was only right
It somehow seems only fitting
That things not be so clear at night

I liked it. You’ve definitely got the Dylan style down alright. I especially like the part about Noah sailing by.

If I had to criticise, I’d say the rhythm could use a little work, some lines seem longer than most others, but nothing too bad. Good stuff.

Yeah, I didn’t really think about that when I was writing. =/

Was okay. I really liked this stanza:

Cain and Abel were fighting
Over what I could not tell
In their faces I thought I saw
My mother’s heaven and Dantes hell

Lines like that are good stuff. You should put a guitar to it or something.

Hmm… Not bad. And I haven’t said that about a poem at FFS for a while.

That was good. But this is gibberish:
