Hi! I’m quite a noob when it comes to this, but I’d really like to create a complete score for The Little Mermaid from the Blu-Ray that’s just come out… The disc has a 7.1 soundtrack so I figured I could play around with the channels to create something nice – or at least learn something 🙂
Turns out it shouldn’t be that easy!!

I’m on a mac maybe that’s what’s making it so difficult…

I have the main movie file as a .m2ts file the audio codec is DTS-HD MA so I demuxed it to .dts with tsMuxer thinking I would then be able to split the file into seperate channels using DTS HD Encoder… The encoder won’t recognize the file though!

In complete desperation I even downloaded parallels and Windows 7 to use eac3to but that was a complete nightmare as I couldn’t find a proper GUI version… And I haven’t used windows in so many years so I feel totally confused…

What I wan’t is to get the audio channels from the .mt2s file slit into seperate lossless channels that I can play around with in Audition CC.

ANY help would be appreciated greatly! 🙂

I would suggest following:
– Convert your Bluray disc in MKV format using MakeMKV (http://www.makemkv.com/). Don’t forget to choose the lossless audio codec from the check box before converting disc to MKV.
– Now split your MKV files into separate Audio and Video files using MKVtoolnix – MKVmergeGUI (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVtoolnix) tool.
– After this, you will see ".mka" files as separate files which are actually your lossless audio files.
– You can play ".mka" files using VLC or other supported players.

Pazera will also rip the audio from MKV’s. It should keep the 7.1 channeling if you output as a flac file.

There are only two updated GUI’s ever for eac3to.
Other versions have ceased development and are not entirely compatible with the newest version of eac3to (3.27).
I can’t remember which they are right now.

If you check the eac3to thread, you’ll see one of the newer posts stating which GUI’s are indeed updated.

eac3to also needs proper Arcsoft decoder version of 1.1.0.0 (or 1.1.0.8… or 1.1.0.7…. :confused). I only use 1.1.0.0 and it handles 7.1 properly, even 7.1 (strange setup).

But, yes, technobhatt has best method for playback with VLC.
I believe though, that VLC will only play dts core (?) with 5.1.
I don’t know many players that read the lossless flag and playback full 7.1 (:itsamystery:)

I only ever use eac3to for all my needs.
