If they were to make big screen adaptations of your favorite cartoons, who would you want doing the music? Here are some examples to get the ball rolling:

Gravity Falls-Danny Elfman
Gargoyles-James Newton Howard
BoJack Horseman-Mychael Danna
The Boondocks-Christophe Beck
Family Guy-Hans Zimmer

Why not just have the original composers return to their duties? Brad Breeck (the Gravity Falls dude) is more than capable of writing a score for a theatrical film, I’m sure.

Because OP is the type of generic music fanboy that only cares and wants the big famous names for movie scores.

I’m with Skelly. Walter Murphy should do Family Guy. His music for the show is already perfect.

And idk why Zimmer did The Sinpsons Movie and not Elfman. Maybe he was busy doing Spider-Man 3. Oh wait…..

Why would Elfman compose the music for the movie? He only did the theme and nothing more.

Also, I’m pretty sure for a Family Guy movie, for theatrical presentation, Seth would count with either Walter, or Joel McNeely if he wasn’t available, or Ron Jones.

If Disney Ever Made A Gargoyles Movie I Could Actually See Elfman Score It.
His Dark Themes Would Suite That As A Film Score

If Shirley Walker were still alive, she’d be my first choice for a Gaygoyles film.

Jeremy Zuckerman and Howard Shore collaborating on an LOTR-scale ATLA film.

I don’t know either, but the end result was one of the highlights of Zimmer’s career. I was really disappointed when I found out Alf Clausen wouldn’t do the film, but I ended up being really pleasantly surprised with the result.

because elfman only composed the main theme/motif. elfman had virtually no reason to score the movie, and im glad he didnt, his latests scores have sucked major balls. *remembers alice*.. FUCK NO

Ditto, I have no idea what’s happened to Elfman recently. Maybe Hollywood doesn’t like his distinctive sound anymore… 🙁

Well, forgive me for liking these composers. I’m sorry that I would like these composers to give their interpretations of these projects.
And FYI, I’m actually a fan of Brad Breeck’s score for Gravity Falls. I just think that, if these directors wanted to go the Simpsons Movie or Sponge Out of Water route, then these are the people I think they should pick.

In my eyes getting a big-name composer, solely because it’s an ‘event’, betrays the creative intentions of the original TV series.

Well, everyone has a difference of opinion. Personally, I think Sponge Out of Water did it perfectly, mixing music from the original show with a new, original score.

Adventures of The Gummi Bears – John Powell
Darkwing Duck – Danny Elfman (For This Tone On Batman and Dick Tracy)

Bob’s Burgers – Jonny Greenwood (just imagine the Ondes wailing away when Louise is plotting something)

Ben 10 – Kevin Manthei (he’s scoring the reboot, so it fits and hey, why not themes by Marco Beltrami?)
