Hey guys,
Ever since I upgraded from dBpowerAmp 13.2 to 15.3, I cannot encode (write) certain formats but I can decode (read) all codecs I previously installed before upgrading. Does anyone have this same problem and knows of a fix? This problem only occurs for me after installing from v14.0 onwards.

Here’s the only formats I can encode in:
FLAC, MP3 (Lame), FDK M4A, AIFF, ALAC, M4B and WAV.

The other codecs/formats that I installed previously but can’t encode in are:
OGG, MP2, Dalet, Nero M4A, APE, MP3 (Fraunhofer) and MP3 (Helix)

Simple. You need to update your externally installed codecs. 15.3 probably doesn’t know how to read codecs from previous versions now.
It can read the default ones because they were upgraded by 15.3 automatically, but the external ones were not.
Search the poweramp site for newer versions of the codecs that no longer work. (I have dBpoweramp and have had
this problem before!)

Oh thank you, Zaralyth! I’ll try this at once and get back to you!

I found my problem! I have a 64-bit laptop, so when I installed dbPoweramp, I didn’t use the 32-bit installer, which is why none of my 32-bit encoders never worked!

You just have to install the main program as a 32-bit (so hold down ‘Shift’ while double-clicking on installer and only let go of Shift after the install screen pops up and the install directory should be Program Files (x86) otherwise, fail).

dbpoweramp doesn’t have a x64 bit version.
The only thing x64 is the PerfectTunes counterpart.
But, even then, they should just install as normally and work.

By default, the installer/binary must be x64 to be installed in x64 directory. Unless you manually change it.
x86 installers/binaries install, by default, to the x86 directory.
You shouldn’t have to jerry-rig your installer to install to x86 directory.

Is your OS a custom build from some pirate group that does custom things?

It could be likely you have stuff like UAC (User Account Control) enabled where you must right-click to "install as Admin" before installing.

My OS is genuine Windows 10 Pro (started off with 7, bought an upgrade for 8 which then became 8.1) but dBPoweramp isn’t.
Spoon only added x64 support from v13 onwards and that’s where my problem was.

Also, I know for sure I’m the only user (and by default should be the administrator) but that ‘Right Shift’ and double click for the x86 installer worked. I had to uninstall everything and remove registry entries for this to work, but it worked in the end.
