The most awesome sword is Genesis’ from FFVII: Crisis Core.

Although technically it isn’t a sword that players can equip, that is for good reason, because last time it was drawn in anger, it kind of destroyed a whole country, both literally and metaphorically – It was directly responsible for the destruction of Tavnazia during the Crystal War, in that when it was drawn it caused such an enormous explosion it severed the Tavnazian Peninsula from the Quon mainland, turning it into a ruined archipelago and sealing Tavnazia’s demise. It’s also directly tied into the very future of San d’Oria itself, featuring in a number of mission cutscenes.

My fav Excalibur is definetely from XI.

But I don’t know which sword is the coolest…

I love many from XII. The Treaty Blade for example.

Tournesol was awesome!

The masamune form XII is definetely my fauvorite Masamune.

But I think that the coolest sword that takes the cake above all of them. Would be the Save the Queen form XII

Also I want to mention the Ragnarok from FFTactics, has a certain charm that I cannot deny.

I think Topo was using a PS2 emulator for that first pic – but yes, that crispiness is definitely porn for techphiles. :3

As for FFXI’s version of Excalibur, it’s just a pity it’s so damn hard to get in the game (just getting it’s useless base version the Relic Sword is hard enough – the chances of it dropping in Dynamis Windurst is ridiculously low). I have the Relic Sword myself, but as I have neither the gil nor a linkshell interested in helping me farm the ancient currency/materials needed to upgrade it all the way to Excalibur, it’s going to remain a useless piece of junk gathering dust in my Mog Safe.

Course, I’d have to also level PLD to 75ish to use it too, even if I had all of the above, but then that’s a whole different barrel of moogles. 😉

Yeah, that’s what I meant. Not the FFXI Excalibur, but the FFXII Tournesol screenshot. It’s nice and sharp (in more ways than one ;)).

Really? No love for FFVII Apocalypse? This sword was ridiculous. Which is why I liked it. Couldn’t find a better artist rendered drawing of it, but we’ve all seen it I’m sure!

I really like Angeal and the famous Buster Sword, it’s a freaking 2 metres sword!
