I’ve been havign that problem too. I think PoL must time-out after a certain length of inactivity, as FFXI’s intro movie is rather long. Pressing the space bar right when the opneing movie starts playing allows you to skip it and proceed straight to the FFXI title screen. Otherwise, disabling the intro in FFXI Config may also help.
I found if this happens, it will simply bump you back to the PoL Viewer’s login screen, allowing you to reconnect, and in most cases, it logs me back in. So, if this happens to you, just log back in and then skip the intro scene (after all, there are only so many times you can watch it, as awesome as it is – even if it is ripped off from the Lord of the Rings trilogy… :p ). This should solve the problem.
