It depends what sort of gamer you are. Civilization is the ultimate thinking man’s game – you have to plan strategies and wars thousands of years in advance, to spread your Empire across the globe. It is turn-based strategy at its grandest.

The only possible bad part is the speed of the game – if you’re not patient, you will find it too slow. If you are patient enough, you will find it close to perfect.

It’s a good game, but becomes unplayable when wars develop in the later parts of the game. When you have a huge army and have to control each person individually, it’s too much. The sparse ways you can group units together doesn’t help much. So you’re forced to avoid war, or charge quickly for an early victory before the army sizes get too large. Problem being that it takes a while before you’re good enough to that. That’s the only real problem I had with it, but since it resulted in me not finishing a lot of games, it’s pretty bad.
