One of the best film scores ever written.

Director Hugh Hudson originally wanted Vangelis’ L’Enfant (from the 1979 album Opera Sauvage) to be the title theme, and the beach running scene was actually filmed with L’Enfant playing in the background. After much lobbying, Vangelis convinced Hudson he could write a better piece for the film’s opening.

While I like L’Enfant my favourite song on that album is Hymne – it’s my all-time Vangelis track actually. However, I’d be fascinated the see the movie’s opening credits with Hudson’s temp track, but there doesn’t seem to be a Youtube vid of it.
