CD cover.

Hi, I was just wonder how many pixels in height and width is a CD cover? I’m makeing a custom cover for a CD and I need the measurement. Please help me.

I thinks its 120mm by 121mm?…try putting it into pixels?

I’ve done this before too, and your best bet is just to create an image that’s roughly the right size but a little smaller, print it, and then cut the paper to the exact measurements.

Either that, or experiment. Create an image of a size you think is approximately right, but make it just an empty white box with a thin black border so it will hardly use up any ink, and print that. Once you’ve printed the box, compare it to the CD jewel case and adjust accordingly. You could even reuse the same piece of paper until you get a black box that is just the right size. Then save that file.

This is of course assuming you can’t find the info you want on Google.

You can set the image size using real dimensions, so just use a ruler on a CD cover.

That doesn’t work, oddly enough.

The real dimensions don’t print out to the real dimensions you set them to. At least not in Photoshop; I haven’t tried it with other programs. It is very weird, and causes me to question the point of having the real dimensions possible in the first place.

I suppose it’s possible it has to do with the printer itself, in which case it’s anyone’s guess whether it will work.

I printed out test pages at various sizes when I was putting my book together, and they came out correctly. It’s too strange of a problem for it to be normal, I think.

Thanks, but what does Finished and Bleed Deminsions Mean? (on the 1st link)

I’m not really sure.

Bleed size is the size of the image your print to ensure that it covers all edges of the CD cover(bleeds to the edges). It’s slightly larger than the actual print area(to account for things not always lining up perfectly, I guess) so the area between "finished size" and "bleed size" will not show once the image is printed/used(should you be printing to a larger space than the CD cover size) and you shouldn’t have anything important in that space.

Finished size I’m guessing is just the actual size of the CD cover.

or you could just use any one of the numerous cd cover designers, like the one that comes with nero, or some printers, that exist.
