I fail to understand why this game got so praised when it’s so insanely difficult and gets so frustrated every damn time you lose and have to start over from scratch. I swear every time I tried to nail one of them son of bitches enemies I thought I was fighting a boss because they take about 500 bullets to go down. My brother is so crazy over this game he even lost 22 times (counted) in an area and still plays the damn game, you really gotta love it or hate it.

It’s quite easy even on Insane, if you know what to do. And, practise makes perfect. Keep playing the same area as long as you get it over with, and repeat with the next area.
If you think that a normal enemy takes 500 bullets, what’ll the final boss need? O_o 20,000? Utilize all the OHKO weapons, play dirty, and backstab. Learn the spawn points and for the love of god, stop using the Lancer, it sucks.
Most important: Aim for the head
I sold my copy. Got very boring and repetitive very quickly.

Gears is an excellent title. Gears gained praise for it’s ingenuity and overall experience. I found it refreshing compared to a standard shooter title.
The game DOES have its shortcomings. The difficulty and replay value aren’t high. There were gaps in the plot, but there’s a second game, a movie, and a series of comics soon to come that shall hopefully fill those gaps.

Really, man. I’m not great at shooters period, but managed to pull off insane mode. Just aim for the head like in every mode. The AI isn’t that great. Hardest part was the end boss, General wtf.

Wait… Gears had a plot?
Uh… of course. Were you not paying attention?
I got tired of it because of it moving so slow. Either it really didn’t have one, or it moved so slowly that it could be easily overlooked.

Uh… of course. Were you not paying attention?
Yeah, I was, but like IDX said it moves slow. And the story doesn’t pick up until the end, which is fucking stupid for a shooter to do.
Hence why I hate part one but look forward to Gears 2.

I would rank Gears of War way above Halo 3.

The game looks great. Epic really nailed the slow, visceral yet simple action with making everything one-button. Insane is pretty hard, but in the sense that you ALWAYS have to keep at least 15 feet between you and the enemy. They have the tendency close-up, to just hop over the piece of cover you are on and whack/chainsaw/shoot you to death. It doesn’t happen often, because you are generally too far away for that to happen, but it DOES happen. And you can only take a few bullets before you are dead.
