Anything from 2005-2007. I’ve been out of the gaming loop and haven’t played much of the new XBOX, PS2/PS3 or PC games. I’m looking for some really nice RPG/JRPG and ambient tracks.. OSTs similar to Suikoden III and FFXI.

So far I’ve been told to get Oblivion, Guild Wars, Vanguard, Shadow of the Colossus, and Odin Sphere. but i’m not really sure what else to get. anyone have any recommendations?

Blue Dragon has some good stuff on it. It also has total crap on it.

Okami is a great (although repetitive and unnecessarily long) one to check out, too.

If you have to choose one, though, go with Shadow of the Colossus. Boy, is that a good soundtrack. Coherent in themes and instrumentation while still containing an astonishing variety of moods, it is one reason to hold out hope that "good" video game music is still possible.

Folklore/Folksoul has a pretty good soundtrack.
Lair isn’t too bad.
Heavenly Sword has a superb soundtrack. (Still waiting on a rip for HS)
Bioshock is fairly good.
World of Warcraft has a great soundtrack…especially The Burning Crusade.
The Witcher has a great soundtrack as well.
Viva Pinata….if you can find anything..
Maybe try Killer 7 and Lord of the Rings Online. Killer 7 may not suit what your looking for, but it has a few ambient tracks.

I agree with the previous post and the Okami recommendation. Also, as you’ve been told, Guild Wars and Oblivion are really great. Pretty much anything with Jeremy Soule is going to be good. (Get Morrowind too)

The latest one to really jump out at me was Odin Sphere. Some really nice pieces in there.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Even though it is not HGW, the music is superb.

Bioshock has an EXCELLENT underscore to the game. Also I applaud its use of old 50s hits, because in the context of the game, it makes it so creepy and eerie. awesome

Odin Sphere definitely and Dracula X Chronicles.

Hey if you want a REALLY good OST, go rip or listen to the Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror OST. The in game OST available in the locked files are outstanding as is, but there are three times as many better tracks during the in-gameplay action. See for yourself.

Super Stardust
Odin Sphere
Mana-Khemia
Ragnarok Online (the new tracks)
Unreal Tournament 3 (the music is the best part of the game, actually XD)
Sonic Rush Adventure
