Originally Gu-Gu Ganmo is a shonen comedy manga with the titular character, a weird looking pink chicken who hatched from a no less weird looking egg.
In the anime adaptation you follow during 50 episodes the antics of Ganmo and his ‘master’ Hanpeita, with his family and school friends.
To my knowledge, apart from Japan it was only broadcasted in France (with a very freestyle dub at times). Only 1 episode exists with english subs.

The OST was split in two LP releases, I have acquired only the first volume so far.
You will notice each LP side has a BGM medley and I kept the medley as a single track. Each BGM theme has a subtitle but I need to scan the LP cover to have a good transcription of the subtrack titles.

Music-wise, the BGM was done by Ogasawara Hiroshi, who has worked on a few anime like Marine Snow, Mospaeda or Anmitsu Hime.

Ripped by me, remastered and encoded by Zarkkis.

Damn, you beat me to this lol.

Personally I don’t find it amusing, because I feel like one of us is wasting his money and/or his time.
Of course it depends if you have a personal interest to acquire anime LPs and CDs.
Even if it’s not the case, I guess publishing soundtracks on the internet can be still some of your personal interests so the question is probably stupid lol.

For me it’s an old acquisition (I bought it in late 2011!) and since I’m a big fan of the show I would have the physical version anyway.
I was not in a hurry to rip & release the thing until last year when I dig more into the anime soundtracks, and found out many things were still not available.
If a very good quality rip was existing already I would have not bothered myself.

I may not have done a perfect version since I’m new to the business, so you may do better with your own release.
In the future I wonder how to avoid this kind of situation, is there a place where people discuss their online shopping/bidding? Or we just post whatever we do in the mega-thread?

btw i actually own Vol. 2. It’s not here yet but i can post it when it arrives

You just bid on the 5000 yen Yahoo Auction or what?
In the past I failed to bid for at least two auctions of this volume with a reasonable price, because of that I don’t want to spend too much on this one (again my ‘too much’ being over 3000 yen).

To say something positive at last, I have acquired and ripped the Movie (not OVA) soundtrack, which was bought even before the TV soundtrack. I wonder if I will manage to make a real contribution with that one.
The positive thing is now that I have decent material for ripping, it will not take 5 years to publish whatever I buy. 🙂

…I was saying that you beat me to it because I legitimately had plans to publish it soon. It wasn’t about me trying to be the first one to post it or anything—I had actually just finished recording it recently and was not aware that you had Vol. 1 in your possession

Granted, I’ll still post my rip on this forum anyways if anybody wants to check it out.

And yeah, the 5000 yen auction was the one I placed a bid on but I already set up a bid for it before you posted Vol. 1 here. I understand if you don’t want to spend more than 3000 yen on an album but I learned that you have to spend a good amount of money if you want to get the rarest of albums…or you could be lucky and get the rarest albums for a cheap price.

Terrific to see that you own the movie OST!! All that’s left is Jam Trip Gu Gu Ganmo and we should be set 🙂

You were not aware of my existence 3 weeks ago! 🙂
And the Jam Trip album is on my priority watchlist if you know what I mean 🙂

It’s OK that you do as you like, as I said this is an acquisition of the old times and that was just me being lazy/overworked/bored for not taking care of this until now. For me it is just a bad coincidence, and it could have been avoided if I was a bit faster.

I know about rare things being expensive, but usually I’m trying to play a bit with auctions, checking bid histories and whatnots to see if a seller price can be called ‘market price’ or not. And the Ganmo LP is not worth the price you bid on it. For the record I bought Vol.1 LP for 1200 yen and the movie LP for 1584 yen. Those are auction prices, still not the final prices when you include shipping fees, taxes and conversion fees to euros. 😀

By the way I had bought the Cream Lemon CD-box 6 years ago (ultra-rare item) for no less than 10000 yens but it was a special case 😛
