I’m not new to VGM, but it’s only been recently that I realized that I listen to like 1% of all the VGM out there (mainly FF, Mario, Castlevania, Chrono Cross, SaGA.) I don’t know how to begin exploring the world out there on these forums, especially after browsing through several threads here at ffshrine. Also, I don’t want to just blindly download everything I see.

Does anyone have suggestions as to how to start my exploration of VGM? By composer? By series? By genre? Testimonies of how you got into it would also help tremendously.

by composer = jeremy soule. total annihilation to stat. ~

also suggest trying a few compilations, seeing what tracks you like and finding more by that composer or that game.

Compilations are a great idea!! Thanks, never would have thought of that… I’ve found a boss-music compilation somewhere in this forum, but any suggestions as to where I’d get more?

Will try out more jeremy soule stuff. 😀

The way I got into it was through just playing through different games, hearing the songs as I went along. It’s a bit of a chore to look for music, so I don’t look for music for the sake of finding it.
