Hey, Bob. I just wanted to make sure you got my PM I sent awhile back (you wanted to know what I thought of this album). I was out of town when you sent me the link and it was a few days before I had time to download it, give a listen, and send you a reply. Didn’t want you to think I was ignoring your request for my ‘uninformed’ opinion after you were kind enough to post this album which contained the track (Adagio Strings) I was interested in!! Anyway, thanks again for posting this album and for all of the other great music you share! It’s nice to have some classical music to break up the sometimes monotonous film score albums.

You are SO right regarding this Leonard Bernstein and the LAPO recording of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings!!!

When I first heard it in 1983 (I still have the DGG CD with the original program including Copland’s Appalachian Spring, William Schuman’s American Festival Overture and Bernstein’s Candide Overture), I just couldn’t believe it… listening to this LIVE performance is a genuine transcendental experience!!! The climbing of the high strings in their highest register almost sound like a human choir!!! Angels visited Bernstein and all the musicians of the LA Phil!
