Apart from the few tracks (On The Attack, Main Theme) most of the score is... boring. Where's AC2 thematic material? Every cue is just probably a cut-scene cue. Yes, Balfe tracks are Zimmerish, but it's too long for too few interesting material. Besides, the Disc 3, Multiplayer by Lorne only is pure crap...

I fear that ubisoft has gone zimmerish on us with creed at kyd's expense. Wheres kyd's signature electronic sound? his amazing thematic stuff? his haunting vocal chants? I hear little to none of those elements on here. Even brotherhood is better then this. You can't beat echoes of the roman ruins and the brotherhood escapes!

I Think the only good stuff on the ost is kyd's ac1 remixes and some balf stuff is good but terribly generic. I hope they just brought him in for acr and left kyd to do th bulk work of ac3.

Amen my friend.

In my opinion, II and Brotherhood was better than Revelations. There are some tracks that stay true to the series like 'Welcome to Kostantiniyye'. When I heard the preview, I got instantly excited for the soundtrack. I love the new AC theme, but to me it doesn't seem to fit in. Most of the Balfe tracks don't really fit in, I heard that Zimmer was involved with the game's soundtrack. Before the track duration info for each track was released, I was excited to see 80 tracks! I thought every track might be lengthly like Brotherhood's and II's. Overall, I give the album a 7.9. I hope Kyd will be able to take over the entire soundtrack for the next game.

After playing two volumes, I can say that Balfe contributed less than I expected. Too many variations of AC Theme (ffs majority of his tracks is some variation of the Theme), nice pieces like The Road to Masyaaf, Sailing to Constantinople, Suleiman's Grief which were used in trailers... and that's about it.
Kyd's tracks have much more 'action' than usual. Ambiental ones are still good too.
Overall, JK has done much better job. That's only my opinion though.

Would you have an m4a version of COD: MODERN WARFARE 3 OST in your collection? I know this was also released in iTunes, which is why I am asking. It's just that I am a little disappointed in the mp3 versions shared, as there are tracks that show bad compression when you hear choir and strings :-(. I really love Assassin's Creed Soundtrack, but I really don't know where to buy the physical cd for each game. I have only the original Brotherhood Soundtrack included with the Codex Edition. Now I bought the Collector's Edition of AC Revelations with soundtrack included and you know what? It isn't the Revelations soundtrack, but a collection of AC 1, 2 and Brotherhood that I already have. So thank you very much... I spend 100 because I want the original physic cd too inside and I have to pay only for the digital download. Never.

In a lot of cases, the iTunes encode is very good - without cut-off frequencies and so on. In this case, they used a weird VBR bitrate that looks not very good in the spectrals. as for MW3, I don't have the M4As, but I heard there is a physical sampler disc/promo of this. Will try to locate it, if it really exists.

@FunnyML, thanks for your response. REVELATIONS m4a sounds pretty good to me, esp on my 5800 xpressmusic. My gripe is with MW3 :-). You hear it in the orchestral swells to a sudden high volume, and the strings and choirs suffer in the mix, getting that low bitrate effect...

This score is really starting to grow on me, just like all the previous ones. Jesper was always a 'stealthy' composer, so give this one a chance and all those hidden qualities start to come through. However, I agree that the schitzoid quality of Jesper vs Lorne takes getting used to.

I am looking for the music that plays during the part 4 of Desmond's Journey : Metropolis. It's a club track a lot like Daft punk material. I assume it is not composed neither by Jesper Kyd nor by Lorne Balfe as it is not on any of the 3 cds. At the very end of the credits there is an additionnal soundtrack mentionned : "Jazz by candlelight" written by Stephen Walter but google my friend didn't find anything about it. I'm not sure it's the track I'm looking for though.
Does anyone have a clue ? It would be much apprciated !

First of all, thank you very much for the files.

As many of you posted before i totally agree with you about the quality of the score.
Why did they used a 2nd composer? Jesper Kid did an awesome job with his scores for the AC games.
And again all tracks made by JK are simply beautiful. Those beautiful melodic tunes... very subtile and quite (if you know what i mean).
I dind't played the game yet. But simply hearing JKs music let me walk around in Konstantinopel in my mind!
If you listen to the tracks by JK, you feel the spirit of Assassin's Creed. No... Jesper Kid IS Assassin's Creed!

On the other (the dark) side, there is that soleless zimmerish boring conceptless crap of Lorne Balf.
You hear a little bit of Dark Knight, a little bit of Inception, a little bit of Pirates of the Carribean... always the same effects in all those soundtracks.
No melodic tunes at all... always those aggressive suspense effects... always those two notes strings and string without any recognizable melody.
Don't get me wrong... i kinda like the Dark Knight and Inception Scores... They aren't very special but they fit to the movies very well.
But in the case of Assassin's Creed this music doesn't fit. The music doesn't feel like Assassin's Creed!

But thats only my opinion... I don't want to make any Zimmer-Fan angry!
And sorry about my english, it isn't my first language!

Yeah, I noticed this track, too. I don't know if this is a licensed cue (Kyd can do stuff like that ;) ), but it sure looks like it. If you watch the credits carefully, you'll notice, that 2 other guys are credited with additional composing, also a possibility.

Have you checked the gamerip posted here? If it's not there, I could do a rip of the cue.

There is definitively a "kydian" touch in that track. It reminds me of his work on Hitman 1. I would have prefered this track on the 3 cds set instead of the ones by Lorne Balfe (assuming it is really by Jesper Kyd ).

In my opinion Jesper Kyd did a better job than for Brotherhood. The ambiant music of Revelations reminds me of some tracks from Assassin's creed 2 (Dream of venice, Tour of venice). But what's sure is that it is not as perfect as Assassin's creed 2 score. Maybe making one game a year is a lot to ask to a composer.

Like the game itself, this soundtrack is an utter dissappointment. I can only wonder why Ubi felt the need to include a boring and uninspiring composer like Balfe, my best bet is that Jesper Kyd didn't have the time to crunch down yet another full OST in a year's time.

The inclusion of Balfe destroyed whatever flow the soundtrack may have had. The first thing I did was delete all the Balfe tracks from the playlist to make it somewhat interesting, but even with the Kyd-only tracks this soundtrack feels empty. The only somewhat memorable tracks are 'Istanbul', which I consider the unofficial theme of the game, 'Welcome to Konstantiniyye' for its great arrangement and awesome use of reverb, and the track 'notorious' for the Prince of Persia-like flow.

I was also GREATLY dissappointed that there were no additional "futuristic" tracks by Kyd. Tracks like 'Desmond Miles', 'VR Room' and 'Apple Chamber' were the best tracks on the Brotherhood soundtrack.

Check my compilations of unreleased music from the Assassin's Creed games. These compilations consist of tracks, that are not included into the official albums, but these are not just music pieces, as they are on the gamerips (cuts and samples without beginning and end), but complete tracks, compiled from music cuts and samples from the gamerips. I made these as comtinuations to the official albums, so they could be listened togather with the albums, as one complete and full soundtrack for the game.
