In Deus Ex: Human Revolution you play Adam Jensen, a security specialist, handpicked to oversee the defense of one of America's most experimental biotechnology firms. But when a black ops team breaks in and kills the scientists you were hired to protect, everything you thought you knew about your job changes. At a time when scientific advancements are routinely turning athletes, soldiers and spies into super-enhanced beings, someone is working very hard to ensure mankind's evolution follows a particular path. You need to discover why - because the decisions you take and the choices you make will be the only things that can determine mankind's future.
Available For The:
Xbox360, PC, PlayStation 3
OT:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Xbox360 Version) is pretty good stuff.
Playing it for about 8 hours straight last night.
I lost count how many times I reloaded a save because I wanted to get 100% stealth or jack that bad guy.
:sweatdrop:
My Pistol is a mean mo-fo. I've been upgrading the SHIT out of it.
Silencer, Laser pointer, and increasing its clip, damage, ect.
So far I'm playing as a Hacker/Stealth.
Had to upgrade my inventory because of all the crap I've been jacking from the bad guys and selling.

I'm not wild about Stealth games, but I'm going to give this a try (comes out tomorrow, over here). I know you can apparently approach the game from any angle, but from what I hear, the action isn't that great and your character dies too easily even if you upgrade him, to go full combat.
But I'll still try full combat first! I *really* hate Stealth - it just takes far too long, and it always feels silly when enemies spot you, you go hide for a few seconds and they say 'Hmm, must have been the wind' or something equally stupid, even when they've seen you and possibly exchanged gunfire!
I just can't see myself caring about the gameplay very much at all in this game. The story and atmosphere is going to be key for me, because I love cyberpunk and Bladerunner style things. If those elements are good, I should be able to get along with the game. But I'll know for sure in a couple of hours, I guess.
Fingers crossed.

The stealth is kind of silly, but it's still pretty cool to off two guys via a take down and then snipe, via a pistol, the guy with the shotgun.
You CAN play this as a "regular, cover-based, FPS"...but it can be a pain, and sometimes when ammo is low, you're boned if you try it.
The music is also pretty good, 'sets the mood' as it were.

Yeah, I heard that you can't do melee at all. Whicb sucks, because I'm a 'shotguns and close combat' kind of a guy!
I'm paying for this game, so I'm going to try and enjoy it. If it seems like you have to do stealth, then I'll give it a whirl. I'm not just going to rock up, trying to circle strafe and rocket jump my way through the game! Its just that if combat is at all viable, that's likely the way I'll go.
But whichever way you slice it, I really don't like sneaking, sniping, tech espionage etc etc. So whilst I'm hoping I'll enjoy the world and the story and I'll certainly try to like the gameplay, its not going to come as a massive shock, if it turns out not to be my kind of tbing.

Its a good game (eventually), but I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying it was a great game.
Besides, 'Great' is a term which gets thrown around too much these days. This game wasn't as deep or involving as I was hoping, and there is no single part of the game's makeup that is particularly amazing (and certainly not original). But it does all work together quite well, and after some wobbly false starts, settles into a decent 'MGS em up' groove.
There are tons of disappointing things I could mention, but I don't really want to lay it on too thick, as that would make it seem like I didn't enjoy the game, when I did. Basically, its a ruggedly enjoyable stealth actioner - and they aren't as common as you'd think. Fans of spy games like Perfect Dark, Metal Gear Solid, and even Batman: Arkham Asylum (your character has a sort of Wolverine/Batman hybrid feel about him), should feel right at home with this.
It ticks a lot of boxes to appeal to all sorts of different fans (comic book fans, serious sci-fi fans, stealth fans etc etc), but I still feel like it could have been so much more than it is. Because in the end, its a surprisingly ordinary gaming experience. It lacks the Hideo Kojima touch, which is both a blessing and a curse - it doesn't have hour long cutscenes and terrible, pretentious dialogue that can kill a man at twenty paces through sheer cringing.
But neither does it have his undeniable genius for mixing the absurd with the thrilling, at least not in as powerful a way as he manages it. Kojima is happy to take mighty swings at the ball, not caring if he misses, so long as he has a chance at knocking it out of the park. This game is saner, more controlled and ultimately plays a little too safe, a little too often.
But it *is* good, so anyone who's sitting on the fence, you might as well give it a go. Its better than most of the other rubbish around at the moment.

I'm hoping to get it ASAP. I played the leaked a couple of months back and was really impressed. I'm currently replaying the original, mostly because it's been too damn long and I missed it. Human Revolution is a really good game, arguably better than the original, but it's never gonna give anyone the same feeling, because as anyone who played the first one when it was still new will tell you, it was WAY ahead of its time. And I'm really digging the soundtrack. Like, REALLY.

It is a worthy successor to the awesome original.
I though that game was too easy on the hardest difficulty.

I'm thinking about getting this game, but I'm undecided as if I should. I've heard a lot of good things though, but I'm wondering what the gameplay is like. Is it FPS? A 'Sneak-em-up'? A RPG? etc. I have been told that if I like games like Alpha Protocol or Metal Gear Solid etc, then this would be a game I'd like.

It's all of that. Stealth is probably the most viable option since you die a little bit too easily, but you can try various routes nonetheless. And you should definitely try the original Deus Ex if you can. It has a lot of compatibility issues with various video cards and newer OS but you should give it a shot nonetheless.

The game is a lot like Metal Gear Solid and not only because of how the stealth works (which is also pretty MGS-esque). If you like MGS it's pretty likely you will like Deus Ex HR, yes.
