So I'm guessing that means Jesper Kyd isn't back, or at least, they're moving away from previous styles of themes and so forth that was used in the other AC games. I personally don't mind too much, given there was a tonal shift from ACI to ACII and they'll continue that with ACIII and Balfes work on AC:R was fantastic. Bit sad, if true, that Kyd isn't back though. Maybe he's just scoring the in-game tracks and Balfe will do the cinematic stuff like last time?

More importantly, anyone got LINKS to this stuff yet, Haha!

Lorne also wrote the entire Multiplayer soundtrack and that was outstanding!
I know this is hard for a lot of die hard fans to admit but Lornes music actually elevated the whole series to cinematic heights!

As much as I love Jespers work and everything he has done for AC, Lorne is the one that really captures the dramatic aspect of the series.
The cliffhanger music "Reunion" is another great example!

And his work on the ACIII trailers (Debut and CGI) and his Connor Hero theme (used in GameplayTrailer Teaser and E3 Gameplay footage) sound magnificent!

Cinematic heights.... I would rather like to play a game than 'play' a movie. I know he wrote 30 mins of mostly generic Zimmerish music for multiplayer. That's not a plus in my book. Reunion is yet another AC theme variation. I am a fan, but easily accept the fact Kyd's music had a degradation... But an answer to bring high rythm Zimmerish sound to 'refresh' almost any game's soundtrack DOESN'T work all the time.

But to each his own...

Could you ask him if Ubisoft has any intention of putting the CG and Debut trailer music on Itunes before the launch of the actual score in october?

Interesting news today (kind of), Japan gets AC: Ezio's Saga release - that is nothing new - it has AC2, ACB and ACR for either ps3/x360, but what's special is that pack also has soundtracks on 6 CDs, and that is if I'm not mistaken, first physical CD release of full AC2 and ACR OST (ACB already had a CD). Maybe they'll include some bonus tracks, would be nice. And you also get AC Encyclopedia (in Japanese duh...) and maybe something else.

Releases this September. For 10k yen (125 bucks).

For something to have an OK quality (my standards, can't help it), it should not miss any frequency below generally perceivable 16 kHz, this one (and that has nothing to do with you, you converted it fine) has frequencies only up to 12/12.5 kHz (per channel) and no sound above, if it had sound between 12 and 16 kHz, believe me, it would make a difference, because part of what you would be able to hear normally, is missing, so I'm still looking for better quality.

But, until I or someone else find(s) better source, this will do, except I've extracted sound directly from youtube mp4 (how the uploader encoded it anyway), so conversion is skipped, because every lossy to lossy conversion degrades the sound further...

dow2cr's wav file isn't lossless after all. Complete cutoff at 16 kHz, just like with mp3/some other lossy codec, quality is actually like a better Youtube source. downcr had good intentions, but the source he downloaded or recorded from, is plain lossy.... :(

That piece was composed for the trailer by Kyd as far as I know, it doesn't have any special name, but internet kinda gave him one - AC Cello theme, because of the dominant instrument.

Nope... Biggs, that's a fake 320 mp3 (yeah those things exist lol), taken from low quality source (cutoff is 12 kHz, that's low) and simply upconverted to 320 bitrate, but you still have the same sound because lost data can't be magically retrieved by upconverting, look:

Lorne is really paying tribute to Jesper's work! You can hear it in the Desmond tracks. "Modern Assassin" sounds magnificent.
Judging by the samples I'm more than pleased with this score. It sounds absolutly terrific!

"Desmond's Destiny" is a variation of "Labored And Lost". Sounds pretty amazing!

...that Qobuz link lets you download in 16bit 44khz versions.... that's awesome! Think that's where I'll be picking up mine, that's better quality than on the game disk!

Qobuz has other soundtracks available in lossless format too, that's nothing new (all other AC OSTs, just as one example). The price difference is very small for the quality you get. The only problem is the people often think like there's no better place than iTunes so they never search for other online stores...

Honestly, never heard of them. Try to avoid iTunes where possible, but sometimes it's just not possible. Anyways, only a week or so more... can't wait!

Yes, I too caved in and watched the opening 20 minutes... other than the playthrough "human" controlling the game being annoying (as they usually are) and not taking it all in slowly, it was pretty damn impressive. The "Animus loading" and building the world stuff looked INCREDIBLY impressive. Can't wait to see it with my own eyes in just a few days. Music, although hard to hear in parts, sounded great too. Lots of signs pointing to it being really quite special. Can't wait to get stuck in, if only my damn UbiWorkshop edition would ship already!

"An uncertain present" was definatly played in the cave segment. 6 more days...grrrr

Heads would have rolled here too. It's simply that a single store began selling it early. I believe there is a law or something that allows the stores to sell it early in case another one starts too and evidence is presented. In fact it all happenned in a single day lol

Anyways, I have to say that sometimes the soundtrack in the game sounds like it should have been 3 discs again.

The way to late Soundtrack release and the Review embargo till the release (which is NEVER a good sign) are the only beefs I have with this promotion campaign!

Review embargo's aren't always a bad thing, sometimes it's to keep the "surprises" for the game true surprises, I feel like we've got a little bit TOO much information on this game already, and it's getting hard to avoid spoilers. That being said, the hype for this thing is through the roof, so it's not going to meet everyone's expectations. Great to hear there's plenty more music than whats on the "Main" release. At least there will be enough in the game to keep the game-rip folks busy when it comes out on PC!

Just finished the game, and I'm very happy about the ending, in all honesty, I've expected as much. It's totally wide open for more sequels and of course Ubi will make more AC games.

The music is great. I caught a few times Sofia Sartor's theme and AC:R main theme cues. As I said, it feels like it was slated for a 3 CD Soundtrack again.

In fact, I believe early on I even spotted the Den Defense music.

It's a shame that Quboz doesn't have the studio master of the Liberation soundtrack too.
But AC III will do just fine!

I figured they would re-use a few cues from AC:R ...since some of that stuff was really beautiful. The games generally re-used a few stuff from older games, but at least there's a bit more (than what appears to be on the album) to enjoy in-game. Can't wait to get stuck in!

Well yeah, opening (narration) cinematic and re-use of Labored & Lost, there is a lot of music, but not enough new music to secure more CDs of the OST.

Anyway, there's some talk that AC3 Liberation has some nice gameplay innovations which aren't present in AC3, so I hope Ubi will eventually port the game for other consoles plus maybe pc (it's not entirely impossible)... I certainly won't buy Vita just for AC3 Liberation.

Fingers crossed, I'm not a huge fan of handheld gaming and, like you, can't justify the purchase of a whole device for one game!

I can't wait to get my Limited Edition and the Liberation/Vita bundle, I am extremely excited for this game!
