I'd like to know people's opinions on what enemies and bosses are the scariest or creepiest in their experiences in gaming.

Here are my lists:

Enemies:
Moblin (Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
Pinky Demon (Doom)

Bosses:
Head Thwomp [(Red Face) (Zelda: Oracle of Ages) (Never played)}
Ganon (Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

The scariest boss I ever fought was Barubary, the final normal boss in the game Breath of Fire II, prior to fighting the games final boss Dethevn. You're given the option to fight it solo (which is a death sentence) or in a group (which unless you're fully leveled, with the rest of your party 'shamanized' and with their best gear, it's a challenging battle).

it wasnt scary, but disturbing:
majoras second form. the way he runs, and the music makes it even creepier.

Fighting a High level boss as a low level character in Diablo 2 online is usually fear inducing and the first time adult Alma appears in the last few intervals of FEAR.

I just saw some of the enemies and I definitely think Shadow Hearts is creepier. Covenant on the other hand... now thats candyland.

The Silent Hill series is probably the most genuinely disturbing and creepy set of games, but surprisingly, the bosses tend not to be that scary, really. Although Pyramid Head is iconic, I wouldn't really call him scary (or only in as much as you're scared of his 'one hit kills' sword, anyway).

For me, Project Zero (or Fatal Frame as its called in some countries), whilst not in itself all that scary a game, has great sound effects (namly some truly bloodcurdling screams of rage from the enemies) that really sell the boss fights.

The one against Junsei Takamine's ghost in the garden shrine is a good example, and his ghost looks ace too. The other one I remember was the ghost of the old Master. He wears a demonic face mask, wields a samurai sword, and is generally scary as hell *and* pretty tough to beat too.

Pyramid head pales in comparison to this ()

And it's from the same game...

So yeah, I think Abstract Daddy wins for me. It may not look so scary, but it's so fucking twisted that it gets me.

I've played the game, and I Incline to agree partially. I disagree that it makes SH look like Candyland in comparison. But they're definetly twisted and scary looking. A LOT MORE THAN ANY SHADOW HEARTS GAME...

Why does it make a difference if I base it on screenshots? I take it back and I'll say that they're about on par with one another, but I still don't see how it makes a difference. Is it because Koudelka's a darker game in general? I definitely got that out of the gameplay vids I've seen of Koudelka (I've no interest in playing the game, myself).

The scariest thing about Shadow Hearts is the thought that someone might make me play those overrated games again (shudders at the mere thought). I cannot understand people's love for that series, especially Covenant. Yuri is the only RPG 'hero' that I like even less than Tidus.

I'm not sure that... thing from Silent Hill 2 is all that scary, but it is an utter swine. The first time I saw one, I was so busy trying to work out what it was, it caught me with its instant death melee attack. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed.

the game is average/below average.
it is in no way a good game. it has a massive amount of flaws.
however, there are two things that are actually good things: the costumizeable character stats, build them like you want. and, a personal point, the music. sure it really has only 4 tracks (random battle, boss battle, final boss first form, final boss second form) minus the credits and another theme (a grand total of 6, the ost list about 30, which are mostly 30 second long ambients). but those 6 tracks are AMAZING.

Yea that's basically what I've heard. I've heard that plot is mainly what the game has going for it, and i'm going to find a playthrough of it on youtube just for that... I really don't want to play a clunky and laggy game.

Agreed...
That's even the saddest thing... Yuri can be even less likeable than anything in FFX.

P. Head isn't about being physically scary. It's psychological, based on what he represents. So, haunting is the more appropriate term, for James and those who can relate to his situation.

At this point he's just an iconic monster in the series that fans enjoy, but it pays to judge him solely on his original intention.

If we're doing haunting, then the sort of speedster cutsey anime schoolgirl with machinegun in the Killer7 level 'Encounter pt. 2' is one of the most disturbing I've ever seen.'

She's over the top and really fast, tough and hard hitting as she runs about past various blinds that open and shut. You already had to survive a tough fight with her in the parking lot in Pt. 1 of the level, so when you face her here, you're screaming for her to die.

And then she does die. She collapses in a heap, and the cutsey OTT anime face she had, turns out to be a mask which slips off. Underneath, she's just this regular young woman who was abused and brainwashed by the psycho who owns the house, until she became this crazy killer. All the blinds go up, throwing stark light onto her lifeless body - a young girl that you just shot to death.

Its a genuinely disturbing sight, because like I say, seconds earlier, you were in full 'Its just a game, die you bitch, diiieee!!!' mode.

Killer7 is such an awesome game. Terrible gameplay and controls, but the experience is honestly like nothing else I've ever played.

One of the scariest enemies/bosses would probably be that one ghost in the first Fatal Frame game. I don't know his name, but he was the one that the main character's brother went to look for. Broken Neck woman was pretty scary too when I first encountered her. Same with the hanging woman. Well, there's quite a lot of enemies and bosses in that game that are pretty scary.
