This was already posted on the forum but I figure that this would garner the attention it deserves if in the VGMDL section. Sonicesque is tribute containing completely original tracks with a vibe from Genesis Sonic tunes by KGB525 AKA Karl Brueggemann.




“Sonicesque, Vol. I” – an album of original songs in the style of the classic Genesis-era Sonic games. This is a tribute to Sonic composers like Masato Nakamura, whose melodic and rhythmically driven music made you want to play those levels again and again. Fans of Sonic music will enjoy nods to classic levels, such as “Mystic Cave Zone”, and “Marble Zone” among others. These are all original songs, written by myself, Karl Brueggemann. I recorded these using the VOPM VST, Reaper, and my Yamaha M08 keyboard. Thanks for listening, and let me know what you think!

Sonicesque Vol. II is the second original album of Sonic music in the Genesis style, composed by Karl Brueggemann. With this second volume, I really took things to the next level. I received some great feedback from Vol. I, which motivated me to go above and beyond what was originally just an experiment with a new plug-in. My goal for Vol. II was to try and emulate that classic Genesis style, while also making sure my own compositional voice was heard. Sonic 3 is the main influence here, but also Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 2. Fans of those games will notice some songs inspired by specific levels, such as Hydrocity, Angel Island, Ice Cap and Lava Reef, among others. Sonicesque, Vol. III is the third album of original Sonic-inspired music by Karl Brueggemann. I had such a great time making this third volume! Once again, I tried to capture the spirit of that classic 16-bit era I grew up with. But above all, I tried my best to simply make great music that anyone can enjoy!
