Okay, here's the idea. You take an aspect of the game and you say something you like about it, but then you also have to detail something that you dislike about it.

Rules:

- No pitting of characters against each other, that's not what this is for.
- You must give both what you like and dislike about something, you can't just say one.
- Discussion is fine.

Okay, I'll start, to give a feel for how it works.

Like: How save spheres were sort of like a one-stop shopping where you could restore HP (without the tedious process of having to use a tent or cottage), save your game, play blitzball and board the airship.

Dislike: How save spheres replaced actually flying the airship. I like being able to actually fly the airship around myself.

Like: How the Sphere Grid let you start with characters with certain specialties at the beginning of the game and then later in the game you could basically expand everyone so that everyone could have the same abilities and stats.

Dislike: The ridiculous boringness of the Sphere Grid. Who was it that thought that people would actually enjoy having to go in after just about every battle and mess around with the Sphere Grid. And then later in the game, where you can move just about anywhere you want on the Sphere Grid but you have to sit and wait for the whole thing to animate because apparently nobody said, "Hey, instead of making them wait, how about just having a "snap-to" feature where it just moves instantly to the node instead of having to watch as animates going across the entire stupid grid?"

Aeons.....

likes:
The summoning system allowed one to completly control the Aeon, a revolution in the FF series......and they looked awesome....and they were pretty useful (well for the beginning anways....).....and the ability to customize them (even though i didn't), was also an inivation...

Dislikes:
they suffered from "FF8 Syndrome" i.e. they summoning sequence was really cool in the beginning, but after about 3 times of watching it, i just got really pissed off at how long it took (magus sisters....*shivers*)....
and after a while, they were pretty useless, as once your stat's become uber, it would be a waste of time to summon them anyhows.....

Another aspect: Customization of Weapons...

Likes: a new way of making weapons, and the system allowed for those that didn't like it by allowing one to buy weapons (admittly not as cool as making your own, but still you could survive).....
This system also allows you to make literally hundreds of different weapons....which ould give variety (well sort of)
Dun't have to go through all the really boring mini games to attain good weapons, (can customize a good weapon, even though it doesn't have the HP to Damage realtionship.....but saves hours of frustration sitting ther and trying the Chocobo race or the Butterfly thing....)

Dislikes: the process of collecting items was just plain boring......i mean the amount of items you need for a different ability is just ridiculous (99 dark matters? *gasps*)
I mentioned it gave variety, well come to think of it, not really.....ther are about 6-7 different weapon "shapes" as in the actual what the weapon actually looks like (in battle).....but the abilities still vary (although some are downright useless, i mean who used status effects except death, when they got the Break Damage Limit and other 'good' abilities).......
And the system was pretty useless (unless trying to create the super weapons, the ones used to gain 99 s.lvls) once the full power of the Celestial Weapons were realised...

Have you tried "shortened" Aeon sequences? Go into the configuration menu and there'll be an option for the summon sequences. Change the setting from Default to Short. This greatly decreases the time it takes to summon Aeons as well as the cinematics for their Overdrives. And the neat thing about it is, the very first time you summon an Aeon or use their Overdrive in a game, you'll still get to see the long version. So you don't get to miss out on seeing it, but you don't have to keep seeing it over and over in the future.

like: all of the wonderful FMV's. the graphics were amazing and there were cool explosions (blowing up Home). it showed good detail of what the characters actually look like. cuz they looked sorta different in the game graphics then in the FMV graphics.

dislike: it seemed more like a movie at times. not just with FMV's, but also with cut scenes. it kinda got boring.

like: the side quests. even though it seemed like FF7 had more to do, i enjoyed discovering the world of Spira. even though some people dont like it, i loved chocobo stuff....

dislike: it was too addictive. i couldnt put it down till i completed all the side quests, and got max stats..

Dislike: I hated the fact that almost every step you took there was a battle. They were a little too often. That wore out the battle system fast.

Dislike: I wish there was a little more freedom. In most final fantasys you at least get to do a side quest on the way or somewhere in the middle. This one you had to stick it out until you made it to your ship.

Dislike: I think the Chocobo Side quest should have had more. There were only four games (including that box one which I didnt care for).

Likes: The characters. Each of them, or atleast most of them, had some kind of in depth story or fact that made them unique or special in their own way.

Likes: The graphics and voice acting. It wasn't bad at all. The voice acting was a great add on, and the graphics were superb.

Dislikes: The fact that the game deals a bunch with religion. Even if the religions aren't real, it makes me feel like I'm playing some kind of educational history game, rather than an FF.

Dislikes: No world map. How boring.

Dislikes: The game in general. It lacked quite a bit. =\

@no main world map where you could save
@wakka
@the fact you could breeze through the game without levelling up until doing the sidequests where the dark aeons and arena creations totally kicked your arse

You can change the Sphere Grid. Just capture five of every monster from every area, then access the monster arena guy's item shop to buy Clear Spheres, which will let you change any node on the grid into an empty node, except for ability nodes.
