I can't help but to say that this upload doesn't really bring any new music into the Inception world. All these cues have been (officially!) released before, exept for Suite and Inception (simply the End Credits), and Suite being a mix of the Track "Time". I guess we have to wait for another release.

The End Credits are lossless on my CDs tho - nice added bonus, as any DVD rips are gonna be lossy. But I agree, thats why I am gonna post my own version soon - in FLAC!

oh, i've made a bluray rip of the end credits from DTSHD-MA.
Plus a rip from La Mome (La Vien Rose) 2007 movie of Edith Piaf. I ripped the "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" song used to finish the movie.
It's actually Edith Piaf track with Marion Collitard lip synching. And it's 5.1 from DTS...Core. DTS Core. I could only find it in DTS Core and the video store I go to doesn't have La Mome in Bluray. And I owe late charges everywhere else :x

I plan on making a 5.1/FLAC upload of the Bluray Score (from the second disc) with those two plus an edit of the opening logos (editing out the waves sfx) to make a custom, short version of "Half Remembered Dream", since it wasn't provided on the second disc in 5.1/DTS-HD-MA

You can only say this if your version contains material that nobody else has access to. Otherwise, your version can't be much better than mine (which will be up here hopefully within the next...three or four months), or anyone else's.

Before we get too far in this, I am not one to make enemies. I, too, work on making expanded and complete scores, and when I run into someone who claims to have materials, sources or abilities that don't have, I want to know what is going on. So...these are the tools I use to make my scores: Thread 84885. What might you have that could be better at improving quality and/or reducing SFX that I may not yet have encountered?

Also, @MacDawson, it almost sounds like you could be talking to me, but I know your request is directed at Takehiro as this is his thread. I am also working on a nearly complete (albeit, loaded with SFX) score of Revenge of the Fallen, as well as a true, accurate complete score to the first Transformers.

Theres no point in posting a FLAC and MP3 rip when you can download the FLAC and convert it to whatever format you want. People always seem to want different bitrates (even though VBR-0 is the best), so I just post FLAC and let the users convert those to whatever format they desire.

As for Transformers, yes, thats still on the cards :)

The Wicked Takehiro has done something marvelous here. ;-) Don't know how, but this is really an expanded version of the score.

If Taky took requests, I'd ask for just THE SCORE of the film THE RECKONING by Mark Mancina & Adrian Lee which has never seen the light of day- nor does it seem likely it ever will. Have no idea why these people compose this music, know that there is a market it for it, people who want it, yet don't bother to make it available. Or in the case of Inception, offer only a truncated version on a commercial level (I mean for cryin' out loud, why not include the end credits which incorporated music not heard in the film proper, but no, Zimmer fails to bother).

Never the less, I appreciate Takehiro's effort here... as much as his effort in bringing the high quality version of Yared's Troy to this board.

Unfortunately we cant blame the composers. Its often studio heads who dont think theres a market for this kind of thing or union fees make them too expensive to release (Bird on a Wire being an example).

But yes, it is often the studios that shoot themselves in the foot. An insider informed me of this long ago, working on a restoration of score and knowing full well the studios just don't care or bother when it comes to this music. Of course Warner Bros. wanted Yared's music killed and buried; especially after the composer expressed public outrage (and rightly so) when he became the scapegoat for a dreadful film.

I use to think that bootlegs were terrible things... that was until I realized they were a form of archival music... and in the case of Blade Runner something which happened the moment that nut case Vangelis refused to release the score in a fit of pique due to his ego and Ridley Scott's ego.

Ahh, I never really stayed for the credits. My bad. LOL.

Also, Inception definitely seems to be the year's most frustrating score. There's bound to be a complete release floating around. Just gotta be patient and maybe it'll turn up like the expanded Dark Knight.

Most of the music in the Dark Knight all pretty much sounded the same to me as the album kept going along (pretty much how it sounded in the movie) so what you've provided is plenty. It is more expanded than has been released previously so it's all good. I will say it's definitely not an album you can listen to while driving. Too many moments of quiet ambient music, short-lived action music, and a little thematic material and that's about it.

Dark Knight, not Black. Vegas Pro to convert these to MP3? LOL, that takes alot of time. Try using Mediacoder. You can batch convert the FLAC files much faster then with Vegas. Just a head's up.

Foobar is also good. But you need to install plugins for it to work with FLAC.

Maybe I'm too ignorant to know what's available out there next to the official release (itunes bonus tracks or what ?), but gosh! I just downloaded it to give it a go and the mixing mostly in the first half is so different and great here. I can't help but think you may be frustrated as it seems a bunch of your questions and hints are being ignored here. I wouldn't be surprised then.

Here again I still love the awesome LP version and its short lenght. Kind of short experience of long music.

I'm afraid you won't find that on this :/

I believe Xalienx is referring to the part of the Credits that begins around 4:22 (at least on my rip of the end credits) or more accurately 5:05 since the preceding music doesn't actually occur in the scene he is talking about. I'm not sure what the passport thing is, though.

Yeah, I believe the tail end of that cue can be found about 4:22 into the end credits. It actually starts when Cobb and Saito are talking in the airport (Saito says "complete the job en route, I make one phone call from the plane, you'll have no trouble clearing immigration" ect ect) and then ends right when they press the button on the Pasiv machine, but only the last half is in the end credits.

I think so. There was cool little instruction manual for it in the back of the screenplay book (as well as here: PASIV Device Instruction Manual MV-235A (http://www.pasivdevice.org)) They really went all out with it, too. Apparently "PASIV" stands for "Portable Automated Somnacin IntraVenous" Device

Well, I do not have the OST at all. I have listened once, and seen the movie once. I was catatonic for weeks after. Whence my hearing did return, and the violent spasms stopped, I vowed to never again let this blight of a score darken my library.

Or...perhaps...a mind heist? Really, you can't listen to Inception? You didn't start out on Mombasa, did you? Several tracks are good for white noise while working on stuff or doing homework. I have an Audacity project set up to play the quiet parts of "Old Souls" and "Waiting for a Train" on infinite loop.

I dunno. Could be I was in a bad mood. Could be the official release was crappily mastered. I barely got through the movie, the score just was so obnoxious and loud. But, I am determined to give it another shot, if i can get a nicely mastered, decent version.

the mp3 bonus tracks available freely from WB. They were originally announced as iTunes bonus tracks. one reason i never bought the album.

If I may ask, where'd that come from?

A friend was wondering about this release, and found a tracklist somewhere, and was wondering if that version was this one.

Oh no...if that gets posted here, I'll have to add another entry to the mega-thread. I have not seen this track list before, but it's yet another one where the creator thought it would be a good idea to use the ASCAP track titles. It actually kind of looks similar to my edit, what with some of the shorter cues likely originating from the Blu-Ray's bonus features, and all of the OST tracks being renamed. Otherwise, the only thing going through my mind right now is "Oh dear God, another Inception edit."

That track list is definitely not KaFaraqGatri's post.

I'm scared to know, considering it resembles some of the tracks off of my DVD rip/expanded score (in both name and length). You should be careful in what you name the thread so unnecessary raging doesn't occur. Maybe you'll find out that it's not even worth posting.

No for two reasons. 1) I already bought it. 2) The cost to make one of these is far less than the cost of the item.
