There's an upcoming show based on 'A Song of Ice and Fire' (HBO: Game of Thrones: Homepage (http://www.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/index.html)). Is anyone else looking forward to this?

As soon as I heard of the news, it reminded me of 'Legend of the Seeker'. I miss that show.

I am very much looking forward to seeing what it will be like. Sean Bean as Lord Stark is a nice choice. But what about the books? Will the series ever continue?

I'm definitely watching this show when season comes to an end. Which brings my question. Is there any info on how many episodes will there be?

The books are still going. The next one 'A Dance with Dragons' comes out this summer (June).

According to Shows A-Z - game of thrones on hbo | TheFutonCritic.com (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch.aspx?id=game-of-thrones&view=listings) - there's 10 episodes currently on order, but that can change as people know.

Well I was hoping for at least 12 episodes, but who knows, maybe they'll extended! :D

There will be 10 episodes in this first series, and it has already been renewed on the strength of the rather excellent first episode! The second series will be based on the second Song of Ice and Fire book, A Clash of Kings.

No serious discussion about this show since May? Really?

I absolutely love this show! Haven't read the books (and won't until the series ends, as I don't want to spoil myself), but the writing, the acting, the production design, music... all are some of the best work I've ever seen. It's now in my top 10 shows of all time.

Can't wait for the soundtrack that comes out in a few weeks.

I wasn't able to catch it on HBO but I might just go grab a dvd copy to go on a watching marathon when it's out...

One more thing I'm looking forward to is it's soundtrack by Ramin Djawadi...

Watched the first episode. Not a bad introduction. The women all seem terribly flat and submissive. Seems like typical fantasy. You know, takes place in that fantasy time period in roughly that same fantasy universe. Might give the second episode a try before I call it quits.

You definitely should. While it is true that given the setting, men are in-charge, that doesn't at all mean the women are submissive or flat. Not only is the writing fantastic, but the acting is superb, as well.

I have no clue.

But back on subject, I was recently watching the character videos over on Youtube (because I figured since the season was over I would be safe from spoilers). I was right, and I definitely enjoyed hearing the actors talk about their characters, but unfortunately there were spoilers in the COMMENTS, and I got one of the biggest plot points spoiled for me.

I'm still fuming. Though, I'm hoping the TV series might take it in a different direction than the books (but, seeing as how the show has been very faithful up till now, I doubt it).

Incredible show. The ending of Episode 9 tore me to pieces. I haven't read the books yet, but I have just purchased them. I'm waiting until Episode 10 ends before starting the first book. May as well finish the season before taking the epicness of the books in.

I don't know how I'm going to resist not reading the books before season 2 starts. But I kinda don't want to spoil the series, as I'm enjoying it so much.

Trust me, it's worth it to read the books. I've read all of them years ago and I'm still fully enjoying how the show has been brought to life. Bring on season 2, but first, get ready for an epic ending.
