Definitely one of the oddest games I've ever played, but THE DOG ISLAND has some of the best video game music I've ever heard, from the adorable opening song to the end credits. If you haven't played the game and have no interest in playing it, the music is still worth checking out and enjoying on its own.
Unfortunately, as far as I know, no soundtrack has been released for this game. Another user posted a rip of this game's music some time back, but the link is long dead and I haven't been able to find rips anywhere else. So I figured I'd try ripping it myself as I was playing through it. The audio was recorded by plugging the Nintendo Wii's audio output into the computer's line in / microphone input using the software Audacity. The recordings were then edited and exported as WAV files, then converted to 320 Kbps mp3 files. The tunes which do not have a natural end are faded out shortly after they have played through their loop once. Some tunes have an introduction which isn't repeated again during the loop though, so don't worry about anything having been cut if a track seems to fade out before it has reached the beginning again.
I believe this collection collects almost all of the music from the game, one exception being the victory jingle which plays if you win any of the mini-games. Like the other jingles from the game it's registered as a sound effect and not as music, and while the jingle plays your character will bark and of course barking is also registered as a sound effect. So I was not able to get a bark-less version of this short jingle, and it has not been included.
I have tried ordering the tracks in chronological order, i.e. in the order they appear in the game. Most of the tracks appear several times through the game in different contexts (for example, what I thought was the boat theme was actually used later in the game in other areas), so coming up with descriptive titles for the tunes was at times rather tricky.
Any comments or constructive criticism would be great! This is the first time I've ever done a rip like this. I've also been looking into the possibility of somehow extracting the audio directly from the game data, but we'll see how (and if) that goes. For now, enjoy this rip!
