So April 19th is the outside-of-Japan release date, yes? To the best of my knowledge, it is due out in March in Japan.

YouTube - Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection Announcement Trailer (HD) (

I wanna...mmk...yeah.
I've bought this game WAY too many times.
>_<
Man, I read about that. I'm getting SICK of FFIV's constant re-releases! I was honestly planning on making a thread all about just how many times it's been re-released, but you've spared me the trouble. Let's see . . .
FFIV HARDtype
FFIV EASYtype
FFIV for Wonderswan Color
FFIV in FFChronicles
FFIVAdvance
FFIVDS
And now, FFIV for PSP with After Years bundled together.
ENOUGH ALREADY SE! This game has got to have had the most re-releases I've ever, EVER seen. I love the original, the GBA, and DS versions. I love playing all three versions and always will. But . . . there's no point in going for any of the others, IMO. Enough's enough! A great game will always be a great game, but too much of a good thing is not a good thing anymore.

another final fantasy iv? geez. when r we gonna see somethin different?
Oh yeah, I'm just waiting for news that FFIV is getting a full revamp for Xbox or Ps3. You know it'll happen one day. They'll all get that treatment. It's only a matter of time because SE just can't seem to think up anything new anymore >.<

I'm still waiting on my FF8 Ports...like enhanced & updated editions or something.

My thoughts exactly, man :( VII and IV (and yes, I do love IV, don't get me wrong) get far too much attention, while all the others get too little. I like that IV gets a sequel, although I don't like the thought of it being released in episodic format (if they're still sticking to that plan). IV gets re-released like crazy and VII gets spinoffs galore, while other FFs never get touched.
Oh wait, I keep forgetting all the cashcow opportunities SE keeps taking to re-release I & II. Buy Dawn of Souls and get an amazing experience, or if you don't have that, then get the PSP versions. SE needs to stop the madness and backtrack to its roots.

but the after years for iv havent been released yet, so this is a definate must have game when it comes out.
I do hope these are released separately. I'm willing to invest the money to get The After Years for PSP, but I don't need to keep buying IV over and over again. Still, it's not like it'd be that huge a deal either way; I simply will not buy IV by itself for PSP. I have three versions already and don't need another one. Throw me tons of pretty CG scenes all you want, SE; I'M NOT THAT GULLIBLE!

no, its the complete collection, dood. gamespot's article even says.
I only watched that video; I couldn't wait to respond and vent about it, LOLZATURE! But I digress; I will still be buying it, because that's just how I am. So, I will be the proud owner of FOUR versions of the same game! So long as The After Years can be played without beating IV. . . .

ill also be interested in that game. hopefully its not hard like the ds version was.
The DS version is pretty tricky :/ I welcome the challenge, though! It's right on par with FFIII for DS as well now. They restored the difficulty that was not present in the SNES or GBA versions of IV for NA. I'm curious to see how they handle it on the PSP now.
Man, this means EVERY FF from the NES - SNES era is gonna get this new PSP treatment; you just watch.

Releasing them for the PSN would've been a much easier thing to do & a more cheap one with almost the same effect on profits.
It's just that Squeenix knows that it's loyal fans will still buy RERERERERERERERERERERERE-RERERERERERERERERERELeases.
So pretty much I don't really care about it.
EDIT: Re-Vamping VI is the most desired & the most Undesired thing that can happen among the fanbase, that's why they don't do it IMO.

I'm actually pretty happy about the PSP re-release since I've only ever played the PSX version. Sooner or later there will be a "Complete Final Fantasy Collection Compilation Extra Bonus Edition Ultimate Package", but is it so bad to have the games available to everyone? I support anything that will keep video game titles in general on shelves longer. Having more available doesn't affect me at all - if I don't like it, then I won't play it (though, I suppose there are people who are drawn in by their obsessive compulsive buying tendencies.).

Sooner or later I need to get it for some system or another. It's been ages since I played it and my memories of it are starting to get a bit hazy.

The release date is 3 days away. I'd love to get this new port (Newport, Ha! No, I don't smoke). Problem is, I don't have a PSP and I'm not sure it's worth buying one for this game alone. Also, I wish they would've released it onto a console. I hate that remakes of the classic Final Fantasy games these days are always on handhelds now.

I think The After Years was good. Although it didn't get really good until the final chapter, but that's alright.
I just picked up the new game, but I won't get to it until I finish FFVII, which is actually still a pretty long ways away.

i heard complete gets an exclusive interquel "game", is this true?
dammit, gonna have to buy the game for psp too.
ff4 would be the second game i have a lot of versions of...
the first is re2 (on psx, gamecube, dreamcast,pc and game.com -yes, it counts)
So, a friend of mine bought this just last week. He's already beaten the main game and is halfway through The After Years. Says FFIV Interlude is a waste of time as is The After Years; apparently both products are Square's most lazy games, in his opinion–and he's usually pretty keen on these things. And he showed me the graphics; sorry, doesn't feel enough like FFIV to me :-/ I mean it's a step backwards anyhow after the DS version. And, the soundtrack is still the run-down MIDI-sounding OST from the DS release. Don't think I'll be touching this one; I think the little snippets I saw on my friend's PSP were enough. Normally I don't buy into other peoples' opinions to base my own, but I'm getting very burned out on FFIV, much as I love it. They need to start communicating with each other better and making good new games -_- I'm LOVING FFXIII, as I knew I would; I'm about eight or nine hours in, just started on Disc 2. The music is probably Masashi Hamauzu's most upbeat set of songs I've ever heard, and the story is actually a whole lot more coherent than I initially expected. But not to get off-track, I don't see myself shelling out the money to get yet another rendition of too much of a good thing just to see it redone with flashier graphics and a subpar sequel. All they did was ruin the nostalgic content of the original game, used Junya Nakano's waterlogged tracks that drain the life from Nobuo's score, and tack on the sequel to warrant yet another purchase for those like me who dislike the step down from the previous 3-d release of the game. Some games are best left as originals, not hampered by a not-so-great sequel to screw it up. FFIV ended just fine and I'm happy with the original :)

i thought the interlude was rather interestin as it connects the original to the after years. the game itself on the psp did get a good rating from game informer. 8.5 is enough to satisfy me.

I was hinting at a much more milked FF title but felt like keeping this a G-rated thread, so I didn't say any more–just had to get that thought out there :)
