Hey, solaris8x86. One question. Are these all your ripps?

They are original CDs direct-imported by Apple iTunes. So raw quality (PCM AIFF 1440kbps -> Lossless M4A thru iTunes CD direct-import). CDs got from Mandrake Anime Store, Tokyo. Good quality, hum?

This stuff's really good...which is why I wish you'd done a proper lossless rip to FLAC using XLD. :)
Also I'm not sure if its just the CDs themselves but I'm getting a cutoff mark at around the same part when analyzing them with Spek they look like transcodes or bootlegs :(

I have some CDs that do this even tho they are legit...but what I'm talking about is the vertical cutoff. yes they all are different pieces of music so the frequency is changing over time...but it seems they all cut off around the 'mp3' range. I wonder if anyone has more experience with this? If you have the original CDs, what you can do is rip a track as WAV or other non-apple lossless, and compare to the ALAC.

Well, using Adobe Audition and True Audio Analyzer, I've come to the conclusion that this is indeed from a lossless source. Even if the uploader didn't rip this himself, someone did and it was transcoded to ALAC. Images are below.

Well. I just wanted to download your these since that eternal collection I had no info about. If i listen the audio well it is fine for me.
I asked if you own these cds, because I reconverted the files to mp3 to hear in my m3 player and put your name in the "Encoded by:" in the IDV tags. :)

VERY nice. I think this is related to Machine Robo Rescue somehow...

It is sort of related.
First there were many different toys sold under the Machine Robo brand.
Then an anime was made called Machine Robo Revenge of Chronos. Leina Stol was one of the main characters. She became more popular than the show.
Then came Machine Robo BattleHackers which was kind of a sequel. Leina was not in it. It was not popular.
Then came several OAVs -Leina Stol Wolfsword Legend 1, 2, and 3 (see CDs above). Leina again was more popular than the anime brand.
Then an OAV called "Lightning Trap: Leina & Laika" which was meant to be a test for a spinoff series. It was not a big hit. There is a CD for it too. TYCY-5128
After that, Machine Robo went to sleep for some years.
The brand was revived for Machine Robo Rescue but it has nothing to do with the original MR.
VERY nice. I think this is related to Machine Robo Rescue somehow...

I just re-ripped one of my CD - "レイナ剣狼伝説 OVA I" again using latest XLD build Version 20101212 (126.2) on my 12 Cores Mac Pro, saved/ported to AIFF and WAV PCM signed 16-bit big-endian, 1411kbps, 44100Hz, 2 channel for twice times and I did a comparison. The results shown in my Spek spectrum are identical to the Apple M4A lossless format. Its cut off kHz is about 21kHz. So this is not an application problem. My conclusion is, I think these CDs were manufactured in 1989-1990. You shouldn't expect that they were recorded by the modern CD recording technology as of today's we have got in the market. The only thing I could guarantee is that they are raw ripped lossless [CD --> AIFF --> M4A] thru my 12 Cores Mac Pro's iTunes.
And how funny, I remember that I had also scanned the physical CD Disc image alongs with the PNG covers placed in the Booklet folder. So relax, they are real stuffs.
If you are not satisfy the 80's CD recording quality or my ripping skill, sorry I can't really help. Because they are stuffs from last century which I couldn't control. I have got more original 80's-90's Anime CDs from Tokyo last month. So, I think I shouldn't share anymore....
For compromising everyone who has doubt, I took a shot to all of them with my iPhone 4 for sure....
12 cores...thats alot =-O
Anyway, i didn't mean to indict you or anything, the only reason I checked was because they are apple lossless format...which I've found to be not quite as ubiquitous as FLAC. But since you went through the trouble of double checking for us, I guess its fine. I also have some of the older late 80s CDs that have this cutoff range.
carry on with the ripping!
